I put some 06 z06 wheels on my car about a year ago. The barrels of the wheels are looking dirty, they don't clean up nice. Has anyone painted the barrels of the wheels black and has a picture to post.
I would like to see that also as I have been thinking about doing the same to my C6 Z06 chrome wheels. The barrels are not chromed so they are hard to keep looking good.

Are you going to give me the money to r&r the tire and then powdercoat. Only joking thats a little more than what I want to do or spend. Paint will do.

No pics to add, but I would think that if you prepped the area well and applied the paint, they would look great. Easy way to make the barrels look good.
Paint from a can will look horrible in no time flat. The hot brake dust will eat through in in no time, you get what you pay for.
I don't think so, I painted my calipers and hats several years ago with Rustoleum black paint and they have held up very well. I believe, they were on my C5 for 2 years and then moved to the C4 for the past two seasons. I believe the brakes may get a little hotter than a rim.
As soon as I got my chrome motorsport wheels I bought a can of "Glisten" made by POR and cleared the inside of the wheels by using a brush. They haven't pitted like my other wheels have in the past and they are very easy to keep clean.
I painted the barrels on my HRE 19 & 20 and I'm as picky as they come. I cleaned the barrels with a metal pad the day before, taped off very carefully and used high temp or caliper flat black paint. Have not had one issue and it looks better than being silver.
Good idea but in time the black mixed with the brake dust might look worse then cleaning the chrome part - Just my thoughts -
Then again it might just hide it!
Thanks,Matt
You could clean and sand (if there are pits) the inside barrel, then prime and paint them in silver. I did that on my 02 Camaro and they stayed real nice. I only drive that car in the spring/summer though.

same problem will exist
I've considered this a hundred times. Problem is, they'll still get dirty and look like heck. Unless you find the perfect "brake dust gray" it'll just be dirt on different surface.
i'm thinking of getting 19's all around just to make it easier to get my hand in there to clean.
Dirt and brake dust doesn't show on flat black on the inside of the wheel.
It is still a good idea to rinse and dry the area to maintain it when washing the car, it has held up like it came factory for me as I prepped well before painting.
Best of luck, do what you would like, but take all of the epinions from people that are guessing with a grain of salt or the entire shaker.
