Sincere thanks to all those who helped here. Having been a Vette owner for only a couple weeks, I think the car is great but the fraternity here makes the experience 10X more enjoyable!
Good info. I'm learning. Glad to know I can get it there if needed. Fortuantely, the battery disconnect and reconnect seems to have worked for now. I drove 15-20 miles afterward and temp is fine on the DIC and the gauge. Not sure what happened yesterday but hopefully it was some quirky thing and all is good!
When it comes to electronics, it's always the first step I always recommend. Glad that worked out for you.

These cars will do really strange things when the battery is not good or well connected. I have NEVER seen a car that is so dependant on a GREAT battery.

Yes, that appears to be what I'm figuring out. I'm glad I have an Optima Redtop!
Still you should pull the DTCs and see if there is evidence of what happened. If it was a comm error, may be a suspect of a ground set becoming corroded. Have you seen Bill Curlee's post on the electoral system?

Good idea. I don't know the procedure to pull the DTCs but I'd like to research this further to make sure it is fixed. Can I get this from the Curlee post? I have not seen that post. If you have a link that would be great or I will search for it.
A couple people have mentioned a bad ground so maybe that caused the problem...
I should have posted these earlier... Curlee's Electrical this should be required reading for all C5 owners. We have several members who are retired from bowling green at end of C5 so there is a wealth of first hand knowledge available to us.
