Quit whining, it's just a car show and go for the enjoyment instead. Contribute to whatever charity it's holding the event for and don't worry who get's the plastic trophy. If you think your car is more worthy, keep it to yourself.
And don't go if it troubles you this much.
The rest of us just go to enjoy the company of like minded gearheads.
I used to take my previously owned NCRS top Flight c3 to mostly higher end judged shows, and yes the car did garnish quite a few awards and trophies.
But it got to the point, that i wasnt enjoying the experience, and fun anymore.
Now I have taken my c5 to a few local car shows and cruise ins, and even did win a trophy at one local show last year, to my surprise. As i wasnt expecting or even thinking about that outcome.
That is not my intention anymore. Its all about relaxing with fellow enthusiats, looking at other attendee's rides, corvette and otherwise, and just enjoying the day.

It got to the point I don't have anymore room for trophies or plaques, moved some out to the garage. I appreciate getting them, but it's not that big a deal anymore. Enjoy the company of gearheads more and look at cars!
I attend to hang out, donate to the charity and don't usually even clean my vette up. It is about the experiance and when I get tired or bored, I go home. I've seen some folks outside my hotel cleaning their vettes at 6 AM for the car show. Not this kid as I'm not that competitive anymore... Good luck to those who care, want the plastic award or are willing to compete. It just isn't my thing...
Can you enter a show and refuse to be judged? I was wondering this because I would like to support car clubs and shows by entering my car as a "number" for their head count but I couldn't care less if I got a trophy. A beer might be nice! And to be honest I don't particulalry want someone "judging" my car anyway.

I've attended a lot of car shows over the years, and yes, each show seems to have its own way of doing the judging - whether it be participants, the crowd, or a panel of judges. While winning a trophy for all the hard work you've put in the car is nice, just being around other great looking cars and like minded people makes the day. Do some judged shows seem like the judging is biased, sure. But it's still fun and if you really feel there is something wrong with the way they put on the show, talk with the show organizers and express your opinion. Feedback may just make the show better - and be sure to give them recommendations for improvement.

Around here you sure can and the sponsoring club/s really appreciate it. When we put on shows none of us allow our cars to be judged. Having judged a few times I can tell you, it is a thankless job. I'm getting to old to lay on the ground checking the chassis and stuff.

I enjoy looking at the entered cars & meeting fellow gearheads. The show prep is my effort at detailing my vette. I gave up trying to get into the heads of the judges. Have fun!!!

That's what I was wondering. Thanks. Guess I better start entering then. But I better win or I'm outa there.
I don't know if it makes a difference but the Shows I was in
were open shows not corvette shows. I would think Corvette Shows
would have more knowlegeable judges. Am I right or wrong?????
I should try a Corvette show some time---I guess.
