There are many specials from time to time and you can get a blower installed and tuned for just a bit more than the parts alone for a good heads and cam and exhaust setup.
The A&A kits will make more power at the rear wheels through a bone stock motor and exhaust and wont require you to rev the engine any higher. The key is a safe tune and not going crazy with the boost.
AS for the clutch, if its going to go with a blower it will still go south with a heads, cam, intake and exhaust package.
I just did a heads cam intake and exhaust project to get a bit more than another 100 rwhp on my 99. Cost me about a grand less than a blower and that was with me doing all the work and using budget heads.
I would buy one of the several used A&A kits that is for sale right now in the C5 parts section here at CF.....Several for $3500 or so... Install it yourself then pay $500-600 for a tune... Now youre at say, $4100....
Either find a deal on some used LT headers and X pipe OR maybe look at the XS Power headers/x pipe package that is on sale right now... I think around $700.
Spend $650 on a ECS Alky control meth kit, strictly for safety...Don't tune it for meth dependency...
$5450...
Spend the last $1500 on a decent clutch and have it installed... You will have to get a single disk to stay under budget.....You can find a few clutches that will hold the power and drive ok and still clear the budget.... (Spec 3+, Textrailia etc etc)...
Now you came out at $7000, your engine will be tuned safely and have meth for back up safety/peace of mind....you have a fresh clutch you know will hold the power.....Best of all you'll be over 600rwhp that drives like a completely stock car....
80k miles is NOTHING on an LS motor.... NOTHING..... We have guys down here putting turbos on 150k mile 5.3s and making 550rwhp through auto trannies and they are living fine with meth and a good tune...I guarantee your stock 80k mile 02 LS6 is still making the same power as a 10k mile LS6....It will handle boost fine..... Just keep it at 8-10 psi, tune it conservatively then add the meth... It will live a long time.
PS....
Since you have an 02, I would HIGHLY suggest you replace the valve springs at the same time....You can get springs and seals for <$200.... I would do this even if you do NOTHING else.... 02 springs are a ticking time bomb!
Keep us posted!
thanks for the ideas already changed springs pac 1218 push rods and valve seals in october 2011.
Thanks everybody for the ideas. I had new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, slave, pilot, throw out bearing, clutch master cylinder, speed bleeder and torque tube coupler's. All replaced in November 2011. In October 2011 i changed valve springs, seals and push rods. Now i'm kicking myself for going with the ls6 clutch

I ran the original LS1 clutch up to 134/5k miles with 27k of those miles running 480-512rwhp. Even included a couple trips to the track. I think if you didn't put drag radials out back and drag race everyday, the LS6 clutch would last you quite awhile for street driving on low boost.

You can do suspension, such as Pfadt bushing kit, sways, and killer shocks with a nice alignment. You can do new brake lines, fluid, and a nice set of pads. And a new clutch and shifter. Then you can do Long tubes with hi- flows and a mild tune. All that will be under 7k and you will be ready for FI. 80K and 10 years old I'm sure you will feel that work and be amazed.
I have $7000 to spend! What would you spend it on? i have a 2002 Z06 no mods. I'm thinking A&A supercharger kit installed and tuned $6500. hawksthridgen.com local to me with a great reputation with LS motors. My only concern is it safe with my motor which has 80k miles? It want see any track days and it is daily driver about half the time. What do you think? Thanks for any help
Facebook is goin public this week. I recommend that you put your $7000 in Facebook stock, and then in a few months, you can sell some and buy a new ZR-1 with your profits

Already got 2 assault weapons. you think i need more?
Two is better than one. Make sure you have plenty of ammo.
As far as the build. I would go with the twin turbo setup I saw Stacy install on Gearz. They're rear mounted and oil cooled and replace the mufflers. Nice setup

Absolutely! Even half of that 7k would go a long way to refreshing a lot of potentially worn parts and really bring your C5's handling to the next level! We've got everything from entry level daily driver suspension packages like the Johnny O'Connell Stage 1 package, to street/track oriented coilover and sway bar packages that will fit nicely into your budget!
You will like that way a lot better on the street then the supercharger. Just my 2 cents.. I have had them both and am thinking of going back to an all motor car again..
