I’m new to the forum and need some help with tire selection. I have a 2002 C5 coupe with 32K. I put about 3K miles a year on it. It’s my baby.
I currently have BFGoodrinch gforce sport tires in the front and gforce TA KDW in the rear. I still have plenty of tread on the tires but they are 6 years old (5-6/32). I live in Texas and on hot days the rear end feels “greasy”. It just does not feel like I am getting the traction I should get out of a performance tire. I’m thinking the tire compound has hardened over the years.
So my question is should I purchase new tires and if so which ones or just burn rubber with the current tires?
Michelin Pilot AS+
BFGoodrinch
Sumitomo HTZ Z III
Or other brand selection?
your problem is not the tires but the fact they are 6 years old...
when I saw the thread I was coming here to suggest KDWs...
DRIVE YOUR CAR
I'd go with the Michelin's. Last year I ditched my original Goodyear EMT's in favor of Michelin's pilot sports PS/2 ZP's and I consider that to be the best money I've ever spent on this car. The Michelin's have no rivals in my opinion. If for nothing else other than all the road noise decreased, Michelin's again get five starts in my book and the Corvette C5's handling & tires now feels like they are both on the same page. And I drive about 4-5 thousand miles from spring to beginning winter. There's nothing like good tires. And six year old tires aren't for me at 80MPH !

I just put them on in July, so I've got about 3-4 k on them (I drive my car alot). Others have been pleased with the wear on these tires, but it's too early for me to give that info, but I love how they handle and ride! Zuti
