Default Easiest way to add MP3 capability?

I want to be able to play mp3's and since the cd player can't handle this format what is the easiest/cheapest way to add this capability to my stock radio on my 2002 coupe? thanks...

I finally chose an FM transmitter and purchased this: Soundfly SD WMA/MP3 Player Car Fm Transmitter for SD Card, USB Stick, Mp3 Players from Amazon. I reviewed a lot of them yet nothing I wanted to take a chance on until I saw the Soundfly reviews on Amazon. Over 700 reviews and 4.5 star average rating. So I get this thing and it works great when plugged into either socket. This does not feel like your ordinary Chinese junk. Very solid build and very good clarity on most any frequency and sounds pretty close to CD quality.....

Glad you had some success with FM transmitters. I tried a lot of them with no luck. Some were close enough but not good enough.
I ended up with a new head unit and speakers for my C5, and now not only I can hook up my IPod, I can stream audio from my phone through Bluetooth and also answer the phone through the Bluetooth, not to mention the Nav and touch screen. Great safety features from Pioneer. All done with the help of Dennis.

I had considered that but I couldn't see the investment since my C5 only gets out once or twice a week...

Isn't there a free program that converts MP3 CD's to audio CD's....and this can be done on your computer?

Yes, one is "mp3 converter" which I have and I also have Nero which does it too. I did convert several CD' to audio format but can only get a limited number (12 - 14) songs to a cd. I just find it more convenient storing music on an SD card or flash drive...I recently downloaded over 500 oldies and country songs and didn't want to mess with cd's or the conversion.

Yes it will but not in mp3 format. I burned several in audio format and they worked just fine but prefer this MP3 transmitter due to it's capacity and convenience.

This thing works fantastic. I have it in my STS and it I love it. I have my Sat radio plugged into it and it sounds beautiful with the bose. I had a CD changer in the center console so setup was very simple. Take out changer plug in device set tabs and plug in audio source. Well worth it if you use you mp3 player when you drive.

I have an IPOD2CAR adapter for my IPOD. Works great. Just disconnect the CD player and plug in this adapter. They also make a version for generic MP3 players. The link that C5 BearsFan posted is for the MP3 version. It is made by Peripheral. Just search on Google for ipod2car and you'll find it.

The cheapest way is to go to wal-mart and buy the fm transmitter for mp3 or smart phone it cost 15.00 and it uses AAA batteries and works great and very easy to hook up, plug and play....set it on the preset channels plug it in your mp3 and thats as easy as it is...I had bought one of those 50.00 units that plug in the cig lighter but that thing would have a kinda surge sound to it volume would go up and down slightly so took it back and got a cheapiesorry no pics of my set up to dark now I'll do it thursday

I bought this unit several years ago and it is fantastic!!! (That's 3 exclamation points.) Cost me just under $100 and took all of 15 minutes to install. It runs of the CD controls (full functions) of the vette's stock stereo system. Hooks up to the cd changer in the trunk (that's how mine is hooked up) or to the back of the stereo head unit (that is a more time intensive installation, but worth it.)

I bought this for my daughter and she loves it. It really is a great bang-for-the-buck. You can also insert a memory card of songs.

This simply plug and play into the back? or is wire spliting etc involved?
