I have seen this issue posted somewhere but i cannot find it. So whenever i gas up the little retracting piece that holds the gas flap closed gets stuck in the open position and i have to use a pen to nudge it out of this jam... ive tried a generous amount of WD-40 to no avail... any ideas?
My problem is that the electric fuel door switch won't work.I have to open the trunk and pull the release cord. All the fuses are good. I was told that if it's the switch itself it's easy enough to get to,I've had the console apart and seen it.However if it's the actuator,it's a hole other story and about $300
One step at a time, fuses good, now when you had console off did you test the switch? Sometimes because the wire is so short to the switch when working on console it is easy to unplug the wires to the switch, check to make sure it is plugged into the switch positively. Last thing would be the actuator and see if all looks good there, cant see the acutator failing!? Good luck,Rob
Its not that its not working, its staying retracted and not popping back out of its retracted position. When i poke it with a pen it pops right back so the spring is good

It would be an unusual problem, but pull fuse #32 from the fuse panel in the passenger footwell. If you haven't found that panel yet, pull the cover where the passengers feet go.That fuse supplies the switch in the console. If you hear a click and the latch comes out when yu pull the fuse, then you probably have a bad switch in the console, or something is making the circuit and holding the latch open electrically.
I had a problem with mine that every time I would go overr a bump, the fuel door wouild open. Turned out the little latch was broken. If you pull the LR wheel and take out the inner fender (7 small screws) you can then take the nut off inside the fuel door and get to the latch. It is held together with two little plastic ears. One of my ears was broken, so the little latch would come apart and it would then not have enough spring pressure to push the latch out so it would hold the door. i used some body panel mender and glued the housing together. Other wise it is a whole module and several $'s
