Texas Speed Torquer V2 is what I run, Ive had it for a couple of years or better.... No issues what so ever. I love it and the power increase is great. 411/380 to the wheels with a full exhaust, 25% UD pulley, Halltech Venom and a tune of course.
I'm leaning towards that at the moment, just since it's convenient to order everything through TSP. Apparently the XE-R lobes that are used in that cam are a little more abusive on the valvetrain, but TSP recommends valve spring change every 30-40k so that's not too bad.
Custom grinds seem to be more expensive and more complicated for similar dyno numbers and torque curves.
Stock ls6 cam is 504/518@.50 17.5 lsa .550/.550. That being said anything in the 224-228 range with a 114+ lsa will give great street manners and acceptable idle. Some will argue 230+ idle is acceptable and that's fine if you like a slight roughness. There are though in fact alot of options. A more expensive alternative but in my oppinion a better alternative for a "street car" would be afr 210cc heads milled to 60cc's with 1.8 ratio Yella terra rocker arms. Car would idle stock and the money you saved in labor, assuming yoru not doing it yourself, would help pay off the built heads. You would be looking at about 420-430 whp with a good set of long tubes and a tune. And yes i know many people are against 1.8's but they do alter the stock cam very nicely to a 582 lift and increased duration. If your focused highly on cam i would recommend the lingenfelter gt-11 cam.
