It makes the car's stance look 10x better by eliminating some of the huge gaps between the fender lip and tops of the tires. I'm sure it lowers the center of gravity a tiny bit too.

I also went an inch lower on stock bolts. It's night and day difference in the way the stance looks, and the way the car handles. It is much tighter in the corners and the steering is more precise. I hated the 4x4 look stock. Just because GM made them that high does not make it good.
I am not one to slam the car all the way to the ground, but an inch lower is much better.
Are the gaps there for a reason ? Maybe, who knows why manufacturers do things to make.gov happy or to pass some government guideline, but does that make it better? of course not. Everyone by now know that not every guideline .gov put out there makes sense.
