Just received a message from Apsis saying they come in matt black which is good but still wonder if they need to be painted in matt black to protect the material they are constructed of. I suppose I can figure that out when I get them which will be as soon as I have the oil pan replaced in about a month. Ran over a rock an put a crack in it. My Bad!
Thanks again you guys. I like the Apsis alot, even though some might not. The only question left is about needing to paint them, What finish do they come in from the factory, carbon or flat or gloss black or what? I'll need to have them in a flat or matt black at install due to silver C5 so I assume I'll need to have them professionally painted at a body shop.
PM Answered. Mine came in from APSIS painted Flat Black - I did not have to repaint them and they still look like the day I got them after over 2 years on my DD. I got one of the first sets they came out with (had delays and had to wait almost a year after they introduced them due to supplier/fabrication issues at the time). A couple of mine had some minor surface defects - like they needed to have some bondo and additional sanding done on the masters (so minor I did not correct them and repaint them as nobody will notice), hopefully at that price they have ironed out those issues by now.
Can you imagine what they would charge if there was an emblem or a couple of letters on them?
OMG, now your talking patent rights, WHOO . . I just saw the prices pass the fist set of clouds. But kidding aside, in all reality, I'm going with Apsis, I've spoken with Jersey and I trust him with a really top quality product. So yeah, people will still count on getting their papers on time.
I've thought about this long enough. I ordered a set of the old style, flat mat finish. They require the lest amount of fitting,(I don't feel right drilling holes in my baby) and I like the compact look of them considering that look like they will fill the order of protecting the rockers and fenders of the nasty gravel and debris of the roadway to happiness.

I know; they do look good, but the price is just too steep. That's a lot of paper deliveries
I'm sorry but I wouldn't put those apsis splash guards on my car if you gave them to me for free....(jmo) as many of you on here say they don't flow with the lines of the C5!!!
They are just too big. Unless your running a really wide tire. Take a look at this thread. I post a lot of info from the install I did on my car. I made "slim" versions of the C6 guards.
I bought the Apsis rear splash guards, yes they're a little spendy but after tossing out a set of the generals because my cutting skills suck, it was not to hard to justify the expense. Just sayin

You should like them if you are buying them for protection of the side body panels - especially below the doors. Most of the smaller versions pretty much just protect the wheel well lip itself from getting nicked which really is not a common problem - they don't even extend down enough to stop any gravel from flying up off the tread.I have not had any damage after installing the APSIS.

I purchased my L5 Splash Guards because I was starting to see small chips developing on the rocker panels in "front" of the rear wheels in the flare area. I believed this was being caused by dirt and stones being kicked by the front wheels(tires). It is more essential to install front guards for this issue than rear guards.
I purchased front and rear because the car would not look good with just the fronts.
After installation the chipping problem went away and the underside of the rocker panels stays a lot cleaner.

while the C6Z0 rear ones are nice, the fronts are a lot more work to adapt to the C5 fenders. besides, i wanted the protection on my black paint without going over the top on the "obvious" look of the apsis ones. i'm not knocking them at all cuz they make a great product. a fellow C5er just added them to his and he said the owner (jersey?) was absolutely great to work with.
anyways, here are the fronts:
the rears:
and a low angle side profile:
again, all i needed/wanted was a subtle-looking splash guard to help stop the "sandblasting" of my wheel wells and fenders.
>I have to say I love these by far the most! The APSIS look to huge and would destroy the look of the car. My question is, can I buy the slim versions somewhere? My cutting skills are limited as well I fear :-(
Also, from a protection point, do they make the same job let´s say like the Apsis?
Same here... I got a set of some Ecklers ones that were on the car and they are fugly... It looks that the Apsis ones look identical to C6Z ones for a decent price... Ecklers also makes a different version then the "mud flap" style one I have that looks identical to the apsis one but the Ecklers version is twice the price... I would just pull the Ecklers one off but the guy had to drill a small hole into the QP so now I have to hide that by putting a different one on that looks better... Oh well
If you have photos of your GM, Apsis, L5 or other make of front and rear splash guards then I'd love to see them. There are some photos above but I am looking for more photos and angles so I can really see the differences. Seems like there is a wide range of opinions on the Apsis model.
Those are NOT the C6Z06 splash guards. They are much more narrow than the Z06 splash guards. I have no idea how they fit or what type (if any) modification they require on a C5.
The rear Z06 splash guards are what DeeGee's write up talks to. They are the following GM Part #'s
All the above is correct. I have the ones listed above. They do not stick out as far as other brands, and I like the GM Z rears better. However, these did not require much trimming or PITA mods to fit quite well. In addition, they do the job.

You really don't need much to deflect debris away from your lower rear fascia. I'm going to attempt this narrow version when I'm done with my CF fenders. I don't want the traditional Mud flap look. You wont get anything to wrap around the narrow splash guards with any velocity and hit the lower fascia. Even if the tire sits out past the splash guard , anything thrown out there wont hit anything but air anyway.

Yes, I pretty much only want them to freshen up the look of my somewhat work inner lip of the fender/wheel well. Therefore, the ones that stick out the furthest, APSIS I believe, are probably not my choice. I do like the C6Z/Grand Sport style though.

Glad to see you back ET.
Here are the pix of my splash guards. I must say that they keep the areas behind them as clean as the '4x4" FLAPS I had on previously.
