I've read the discussions on the super expensive splash guards and I just can't get myself to part with over 450 bucks for them. Has anyone tried the "poor man's" guards like what Corvette America sells for $41.95 a pair? If so, what did you think of them? Are they like the ones I have on my F-150? Hope not.
I spent $16 on mine. Yea I know they look like it but they do the job, I can adjust them to where I want protection and easy to replace after a couple years if needed. I do drag them once in a while. Hard to see against the tire.

I bought mine from RPI Designs - was around $40 and no drilling required. May not look as fancy as the C6 Z06 ones, but simple bolt on design and provides protection against those rock chips.
L-5 sells a set for about $150 that looks like the C6. But i can't find no one that carries them. APSIS also has them but they are $200 for the rear and $200 for the front. I can find them on flebey But i don't no if i want to pay $200. They are suppose to be a perfect fit with no cutting are grinding.

I bought the L5's and returned them, I did not like the fit and material they are constructed of...they were very difficult to get to stay in place. The Apsis, made for the C5, are a more flexible material and from my perspective a better product...hence more expensive.

L5 will sell them to you at 149.95 a pair plus shipping. That's 300 Bucks + shipping.
APSIS has the front and rears for $225 a pair. That's 450 bucks + shipping.
I just checked on them yesterday online.

There's no way I could modify the GM ZO6 guards, so I bought a full set from Jersey at Apsis. The total for the four guards and shipping came to $410.50 I think the are the best looking splash guards on the market right now. So it brakes down to $100.00 per guard. They go on with two screws in front with some 3M two face tape, and the rears go on with just the two face tape and you have to drill one hole at the bottom and insert one screw. I'm getting mine painted to the 50th. Anniversary red to match the cars paint. And there only one hole to drill in the rears.
Lewis L5 cost more but the ones from Apsis are designed for the C5 and L5 are designed for the C5 also, but to me are too pricey and I'm afraid of them being made out of Carbon fiber and are too rigid-ed. Once painted will look great and they protect the rocker panels & fenders and the rear quarters. I bought the Apsis "old styled" For $410.50 and I'm sure these are the right decision I made. I've been looking for a good set that will really look great and they flex a little. Where as the L5 are carbon fiber and the also are nice, but I'd be afraid of the cracking because they are very ridged. I don't know if I made the right decision but the price for C5 Splash Guards are anywhere from $25.00 for the cheap set right by my foot right now or $450.00 for the L5's. I have the Apsis in the box still but I'm taking them to the body shop today and have them painted.
I think either way you go your gonna get a really nice finish with the L5's or the custom old style Apsis sells. But after looking for a nice set of splash guards it all comes down to Apsis Or the L5's. I bought the Apsis because they had the best price. And lets face it, the Corvette tax is alive and doing quite well still.

I do agree that the APSIS guards look the best. BUT. Even BMW molded splash guards cost far less; why should the "it's for a Corvette" moniker jack up the price to a ridiculous level? The answer is that we elect to give the companies our money so they will take as much as they can from our pockets - that's free enterprise. When are we going to stand up and say no more? I'll give you a fair price + profit and NO MORE.
I have these painted on my AE coupe, they suck, they drag over every speedbump you ever roll over, especially if your backing up, and they are rigid which worries me a great deal about breaking something else!
I'm taking mine off and going with the Apsis!
The price is awful, but its just a better product!
