Default LS7 Clutch question

Hey guys,
Does anyone know if I can reuse a used LS7 clutch pressure plate with a new disc?
Thanks

Take a close look at the friction surface on the pressure plate. Is it smooth or is it obviously worn and abused ? Also check the springs and see if you see any evidence of overheating. If both are OK then you can re use the pressure plate. The entire clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel assemblys are cheap, especially from forum vendor Gene Culley. IMHO if I had the car torn apart far enough to replace the clutch, I would reinstall all new components.

At the price of LS6 and LS7 clutch kits from some of the vendors, it doesn't make sense not to use a whole new assembly. Plus you're getting an assembly that has already been balanced together as a complete unit, alleviating the need and expense to have this step done. I just installed a new stock clutch in my Z06 and it worked perfectly right from the start, smooth as glass.

I reused an LT4 PP on my LT1 camaro when I switched to a different disc. The PP only had a few thousand miles on it, I just hit it with some 120 grit sand paper really well to take the glaze off it. The new disc worked fine with it. Changing a clutch in that car is much easier than a C5 though. With a C5 if I had it that far apart I would probably just install a complete new unit. It may work ok, if it doesnt, its not easy to do again in these cars.

Regarding what I said in a previous post, you don't want to have to do this job twice. Just go new all the way. Speak tp Mike at East Coast Performance for an awesome price. He's a forum vendor.
