I have a 2002 convertible, the self supporting feature of the rear deck lid is not working . Do I have to replace the hinges . Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Sounds like the struts are bad. I think I remember seeing them on GMPartshouse for around $25/ea and calls them lift cylinders. I'm sure others will chime in with a part number.

Hi, DeeGee,
How do you remove the old struts? Do you "pry" them off? To install new ones, do you squeeze the struts and the ball struts together until they "pop" in place? If so, is there space for plyers big enough to have leverage to squeeze the two parts together?

Thanks for your help, Tankerpapa ( Rafael)
