Default How many not running TPMS

I have a 99 with a dead sensor and would guess the others won't be far behind. I know I can upgrade to the newer sensors but really don't know if I would really miss them if I did not run any sensors at all. just wanted to see how many ditched their sensors completly. Thanks!

Almost every Z06 owner, myself included. Don't think you would miss them...

I'm getting ready to get new wheels/tires. Bummer that the '97 - '00 sensors are twice as expensive as the later gen C5. I have a '99 coupe. Want to keep the sensors on my current tire/wheel setup so I can sell it all as a package. Have also thought about not getting the sensors.

Am curious, what shows up in the area of the DIC where the TPMS sensor info is?

There are several people here that will replace your batteries for you. It'll save you a bundle.

I will always run my car with them, It is nice to be alerted if you have a low tire, It could mean the difference of making it to a tire shop or not.

I dont run them. Mainly because of the price. I have a 98. If they were cheaper, i'd probably replace them but I dont miss them.

Thanks everyone, pertty much thought I would be fine with out them, I can see that with run flats that they would come in handy but I have non run flats and carry a plug kit and small compresser and also AAA and have had non run flats since 2004 with no issues.

What do you guys do about the DIC? Just deal with it telling you they're missing or can you turn it off?

I replaced the sensors in my 98 last year, Tire Rack has the old version for $68 a sensor.

I wouldn't drive my car without them in the wheels. It is a good safety feature and lets you know when your tires are low on air or are losing air due to a puncture. Obviously you can do what you want, but to me, it is a good feature to have.

When a switched to my new wheels and tires I was told that my TPMS would not fit so they were not installed. I don't have any warnings on my DLC so there is nothing to "reset."

Coming from the motorcycle world I've gotten into the habit of checking tire pressure on a regular basis, but obviously for safety purposes it would be better to have them for that little added piece of mind.

I have a 98 whose TPMS was inop when I bought the car two years ago. I have Z06 repros with Firestone Firehawk run flats. Not sure if the sensors are in there or just not programmed or what. I am so used to just clearing the DIC when I start the car that it is second nature. I understand that there is no way to turn off the DIC message except for clearing it.

I don't have them in the set of wheels that is on the car right now. I never had them in any of my other cars, somehow got along just fine.
