Default c5 floor jack thread

so i am lowered on stock bolts and its a pain to jack my car up. sick of borrowing a friends jack so im looking for a cheap alternative.... what kind of jack do you have, where did you get it, and pictures of it

thinking either this:
http://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-l...ump-68050.html
or this:
http://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-h...ump-68048.html

opinions? i know one is a lower profile but i think the latter will work too if i start lifting car with a scissor jack. which one is worth it....

You need the low profile. This is the one I got. It's not the aluminum one like I believe your first link is to, but I don't plan on packing it around anyway. And this one was less than a hundred bucks.

Don't mess around with scissor jack, it's not worth the hassle when you can get a jack that you don't need to for less than a hundred bucks, or right around there.

I use a Craftsman aluminum low profile jack (very lightweight), but lots of people here use the Harbor Freight jacks and are pleased.

I have the HF low profile. I think it's the first one the OP listed. Lowest saddle point on first one is I think 2-5/8", the second one listed is 5" at lowest point! That would not even come close to sliding under my Vett.

I got mine at one of HF "parking lot sales", I think it was on sale for like $79 or so. Have not had any issues at all with it for the year I have used it.

I got the HF jack myself. Used them for 4 years at the Auto Hobby Shop in Okinawa and never had an issue. They're quick too.

I had a coupin (think Ron White) for mine, so it was 59.99 instead of the usual 119.99.

I don't know how much room you need to do that as I never have. But I would think so, yes. I had mine up, I don't know, 2 feet maybe or more. I could get around and crawl around with ease I do know that. I know a 2 ton is probably sufficient but I went with the 2.5 just cuz.

OK sorry, I did some research and the first one you listed might be a better choice. It has a higher lifting range by almost 4 inches, so disregard my 2 feet comment earlier. The one I have has a range of 20 inches.

It's fine for me but may not be what you're looking for.

I have this same jack. Had it for two years now and works great. Lifts the whole side or back of the Vette with ease. Caught it on sale and had a coupon and paid $39.99.

The ATD-7325 (same one as the Omega 29023, just under a different badge) is very well regarded here. Amazon was selling it for $248.83, but now it goes for $299.95. You can see it here.

It's been discussed in depth here.

What really separate this one from the pack, besides its extremely low profile, is its length. It allows you to reach the front and rear crossmembers from the front and rear end of the car respectively, in order to raise the whole axle.

Can you get under the front without the help of anything else raising the car up??

I have this one as well. Except it's orange and I found it at Harbor Freight for cheap. I've been using it for over a year with no problems. It's the lowest 2 ton jack I've seen and it's proven itself time after time.

I still use jack stands though. Never rely on the jack only.

This jack can get under the back of the car with plenty of room for a brace protector, but if you want to get under the front, you're still going to need ramps or something. I've tried numerous ways to get that jack under there, and it's simply not long enough to get under without hitting the body panels.

The same for me! I have the more expensive craftman alum jack, but once I bought the one above, I have never looked back. I also got mine for $39.99 with a coupon. I have had it for 4 + years with a ton of use & have lend it to several folks, NO issues ever. Here is the link:

http://www.harborfreight.com/rapid-p...html-7814.html

If you pick up any car mag, you can usually find a coupon to get it for $59.99
