You've got to be really careful on a complete repaint. If it's not perfect it could ruin the value of the car.

my father took the car into the dealer today, sounds like the dealer is willing to pay all but 500 to fix it so I said alright

I really love my car and my father checked the lot and said I can see why you don't want that c6

he regrets spending 55k for a c6 when he could have got a sick c5 vette for under 25k

bad news guys the original paint was changed... so basicly I got quoted 5k now to strip and redo it all

sadly I might have to depart and move on to the srt8 challenger :-(

I found one at the same dealer for 10k more with only 4000 miles

I have so many parts if I trade it in :-(

Areo dynamic Vette or a SRT8, Hmmmmmm.
Well good luck with your new ride, After owning a C5 I could never own a srt8, That is just my opinion.
They look good, But are way to heavy, HP to weight is way off.

bill my c5 wasnt a daily driver and I didnt really want new paint

however the srt8 is crazy heavy but I can drive it to work and give my parents the garage spot back(and the crappy trailblazer they lend me)

I cant afford to speed anyways being a truck drive the srt8 will be wonderful for cruising around town

Just for the folks saying black is easy. There are no less than half a dozen listed shades of it not counting variances. I bought used parts for my project car. Just so happens they are all black but off two different Corvettes. L Fender and bumper cover from an 01 coupe and the hood from a 99 FRC. The fender and hood show no sign of being repainted but guess what?? Two different shades of black. Some have a brown cast others gray and then there is the deep black and everything in between. Nuthins easy in this bussiness...trust me.

And when it comes to bumper covers...forget it. They can't even match them at the factory. PPG even has a small poster for shops to put up stating not to expect a match on bumper covers. I saw a brand new Buick Lacrosse the other day. The car was silver but the facias looked gray.

Yes owning an srt8 is VERY sad, especially compared to a Corvette.
