Anyone have an opinion to share about new tires for my 04 C5?
Oddly, the drivers side rear is toast while passenger is at 50%. Only 12k miles on the car. But at 8 - 9 yes old, I figured I'd replace them. Seeking opinions on brands, run-flats or no, and longevity.

Thats very strange only 1 rear tire is worn. Maybe a red flag you have a issue in the diff?
I have Bridgestone Potenza 760 Non Run Flats and I really like them.
For non-runflat suggestions, I recommend Hankook Ventus V12 and Continental Extreme CWs. I currently have Goodyear GSD3s, which are excellent tires that are no longer made in our sizes.
I'm running Kumho tires all around for my daily drivers. They aren't super expensive but have very good grip and handling for the amount of gravel and sand on the roads where I live.
I have not had a chance to take it to a track yet to see how they corner. (I bet it handles like a Vette )

Don't blame you Jim for choosing any of the runflats. Many are great tires! I have run many tires. My car had E1GY when I bought it. Horrible noise and traction. Bought some Falken FK452 Non Runflats after the good was gone from the GYRF for only a few thousand miles. Loved them. Quiet, great traction. Then bought my current wheels wrapped with Nitto 555R's from a CF Member so I shelved and kept the Falkens. I did get 30K plus from the Nitto tires , great mileage, but I was never happy with them compared the the Falkens.
Tme for new tires and my "old" FK452 Falkens, stored out of sunlight and temp controlled are going back on!
Can't wait to have them back on. 150 plus more rwhp, 175 more rwtq. Since then.
Just get a plug kit, compressor, a AAA memership, a Sig Pro , Visa with a $50K limit, bottle of good whiskey and a cell phone if you have a flat!
Runflats:
Weigh more than 6 lbs each more than non-runflats
Harsher ride
Much harder to remove and mount - not all tire shops have the tires or equipment to handle them
Costly
Non-runflats:
Lighter, so creates a more responsive suspension and better ride
Can be mounted and dismounted, everywhere
Less expensive

OP, really how often are you stranded?
Good point, Also, I have had good luck with the Toyo proxes on my c5 that the previous owner just put on before i got the car. Quiet, good price, decent treadwear, and good grip.
Has anyone any experience with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus Run Flats? I got a quote for a new set all the around with all the road hazard / adtl fees for $1100 OTD. Half what the local goodyear store wanted for a new set of RF Eagle F1's....
Just spoke with a C6 owner who swears by the BFG - G-Force T/A's KDW - 2 s....same price range as the other tires being recommended. Any feedback on these? Cool looking tread...non-run flats

I just purchased these tires for my 2004 with 24000 miles after much research. They are being shipped and I should have them Tuesday. The feedback from people that have purchased the AS/ZP has been 5star positive. My friend just put them on his C5 and could not believe the improvement in traction, handling, quiet ride. I have had the best luck with Michelin tires and would put them at the top of your list.
I too run the Kumhos all around on our daily driver. 5,000 miles so far. Look's like they are wearing fine and low road noise. I have yet to disengage the traction control and do a real burn out but what tires for these cars cost I might not. Anyway I think they are a real good tire for the price.
now that the hankooks have skyrocketed in price is the Nitto 555s a good choice now.
If you are looking for the Hankooks, Onlinetires.com is listing the Hankooks today at $108 each for the front and $184 for the rear. This is up slightly from when I bought them there about a month ago, but I would still consider that to be a great price. Still get a set for under $600 plus shipping.
RE; Onlinetires.com, or for that matter tirerack.com, How did you arrange for installation and balancing? Road hazard warranty?
I took the wheels off the car and took them to a shop that does Corvette work as well as the routine stuff. Cost $111 to have them all mounted / balanced, so I got out the door for $749 total for tires, shipping and mounting balancing. I went with them because the owner of the shop has two Corvettes and knows owners are concerned with how their wheels are treated, plus I wanted to see if they met my expectations for service as a first time customer. I am delighted with the result. I'm not concerned with the road hazard warranty as I carry AAA and my insurance policy also has towing coverage.
If you go to Tire Rack's web site and search for installers and prices in your area, you will find who in your local area is available. All the ones I talked to didn't car whether the tires came from Tire Rack or not.
