Default Sun Visor Question

I just noticed that the plastic flap cover over the vanity mirror on my driver's side sun visor is broken. One of the small plastic rods broke off.

Does anyone know if I can buy just the flap cover and install it or are we talking a whole new sun visor? To make it even more fun, I have custom leather covered sun visors from Vette Essentials.

Then I think you need the repair instructions thread - very detailed and with care you can make a nice job.

Thanks. However, I still need to confirm if I can purchase just the plastic cover section or if I need an entirely new vanity mirror section and/or visor.

Has anyone removed the vanity light mirror section/flap door from the sun visor without separating the fabric? Mine are covered by leather and I would like to replace/swap the plastic door only (if possible) or Plan B would be to remove/swap out the vanity mirror section entirely without re-opening the leather.

Since I drive a convertible and this plastic hinge door is exposed to the sun while driving top down, I'm sure I can't be the only vert owner who has experienced 8 year old (+) plastic breaking down. Just looking for the best options. If I need to go and find a used or aftermarket driver's side donor vanity mirror just for the guts and have my leather guy refit it, so be it, however I'm hoping I can fix this myself without ruining the leather work.

I doubt that you can purchase just the plastic cover. I've been looking for sun visor parts for some time now, no joy. I finally ordered a damaged visor from a vette salvage yard (for parts). It should arrive late next week. If you still need parts by the end of the week, contact me and I'll let you know the status of the vanity mirror.

Thanks.

In looking more closely, I don't think I can replace just the cover as I can't seem to find where I can remove it without breaking the other piece. I might need to bite the bullet and find a donor visor.

I took my (broken one apart) believe you, it ain't worth fixin.... Partical board, plastic tabs. I thought I could fix it and have someone sew a leather cover. I tried real hard to figure a way but it means replacing the partical board with some form of metal or harden/semi soft plastic. It was cheaper to purchase new ones at $79 each. I still have the old broken ones in my project bin... Let me check, I'll give you the one that is not broken, I think it's the Driver side that is still good. Let me check when I get home.
