Good point, but in fairness anyone can say anything on a phone. BTDT, trust me.
I'm much more interested in first hand comments or experiences from trusted sources. This non-repairable EBTCM issue on early C5s has been a known problem for years and something tells me this outfit wouldn't be the first one to try something of this nature on these specific units, even with good intentions, only to find thay can't make good on a reliable repair.
If they've come up with the magical solution great. Time will tell. It usually does.

I've made the mistake a couple times of going with the "feel" I got on the phone, and got burned.
I have a strong suspicion Dave68 is on the right track regarding the non-repairability of these things.

Call me crazy but I bought one from a salvage company off of ebay for $850. The first one he sent me didn't work and was very badly corroded. So he sent me another one and my local dealer was able to rebuild me a new one using the two I had. Have had zero issues to date so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'd rather not go without ABS and TCS so it was a necessary repair in my opinion.

Thanks Mr.Bill for the info - hopefully this does turn out to be a vendor that is successful at repairing the earlier EBCMs.

Scaminformer.com has one complaint and a comment to that complaint also complaining that they got taken for a ride. Off to read some three star reviews to see what's up there. Love em or hate them till they die. I believe the haters

Their 01-04 repair includes a full description and includes "We are so confident in our rebuild service and the replacement components we use, that we include our lifetime warranty with each rebuild service"
Hmmmm...Zero description on the 97-2000 units. Would be nice if they're able to fix them tho!

I've seen many people talk about the EBCM and how it is not repairable. However, I havn't seen people talk about what happens when it goes bad. So, what happens? You lose both traction control and ABS.... anything else? Your dash lights up with errors?
Are the EBCM's specefic to each year corvette (will a 98 part work on a 97 car)?
Are they specific to the type of suspension on that car?
Thanks

Do you guys think buying a used one is the answer, or just screw it if it goes south? And can the light be programmed out? I'm going to take mine in and have it diagnosed because mine may be a ground. (it comes and goes, mostly comes) BUT if it is the ebcm I can't see spending the money on used for it to possibly go bad as well.
It's nice having the feature, but I can live without it.
