I bought Apsis splash guards (Old Style)They were a little expensive, "the old style", but like many thing in life, you get what you pay for. Once you feel them you can see that Jersey put a hell of a lot of work into C6 splash guards fit a C5 perfectly. Our goal was to have as little reveal at the point were the guards meet the quarter panels go.They come in black but I had mine painted by my friend who owns his own shop and has done many jobs for me over the years,
But alas I digress, I ordered the splash guards and added some more 3M automotive double face tape, and they were painted and he let them sit for a week to make sure they were well dried. But then last week on Thursday we installed them, so what do you think ? I tried to clay bar the paint on my own, but my back is so shot, I took it to Philadelphia's top rated detail shop and it is fantastic what they can do, Washed, clay barred, and a good coat of carnuba wax. The paint looks like is fresh paint. It's so deep it almost a mirror. My herniated disc's thank me !
Should have left them black, won't take long before the road juck will blast them back to black.
Well once I got home I got my can of 3M # 05911, It's a clear rocker panel chip resistant coating. It is a clear coating that is invisible to anyone not looking for it. It gives the painted sections with a wavy clear coating. But be forewarned, you mask off all of the outside of the guards and make sure the surface is clean and you don't need to remove the fronts tires, just turn them away from the splash guards, and only remove the rear tires. And you give it a first coating, Wait about a minute just till it's flashed over and hit it with a second coating, then pull off all of the masking and let it sit for a few hours. ll
If you leave the masking tape on too long, you'll get a ragged line to it's corners and all of the masked line. To fix this, you have to move & masked the spray line back another 1/4 inch, and then spray it and then quickly pull off the masking, and do one wheel at a time. It's great stuff, it stays just a tiny bit wavy and is VERY resistant to road chips. Happy motoring !

I used to use the stuff on my 4x4 rocker panels. It's great.
Killain, they look great. I may have to pull the trigger on this one...

Anyone know the difference between the 'old style' and 'new-hollow style' guards?
Killain, they come in a flat black??
I also noticed on another forum you had trouble with Apsis. Where do you stand now??
Just curious, did you have to do any drilling at all or did you only use existing bolts/screws and 3M dbl sided tape? Thanks.
Hi, Sorry for not replying, I was in the hospital for awhile. The fronts just reuse two of the wheel house screws, and some double-face tape, but longer. On the back you have all automotive grade double-face tape and a choice of drilling one hole in the fender down real low on the fender to insert a sheet metal screw and a flat-nut, but there is also a hole half way up, you can simply run a piece of double-face tape over the hold, or since my friend owns the shop, he decided to go ahead and drill another hole and doing the sheet-metal screw and flat washer combo there as well. But you need to move the wheel house a little to get your hand in back of there, then just reinsert the sheet metal screws. We were more interested in keeping the 'reveal' of the Apsis splash guard and the fender/quarter panel as tight as we could.
My buddy was impressed with the guards, he sees a lot and even he said these are a real durable part that once mounted is now a part of the car. This is a REAL QUALITY PRODUCT, But between the screws and the automotive grade double-face tape they become very solid on the Vette !
