A vendor called the ABSfixer.com can repair them (01-04 C5s). And the cost is very reasonable.

I don't know if they are a problem for all 2003's but I had to get mine replaced. Had it replaced under warranty from the dealership a few months ago. If it's not under warranty I would go with ABSfixer, it's worth a shot to see if it can be repaired.
