Default In a split second.....

Driving to the beach yesterday, for my Sunday run at 5:30am, I was on the highway, going 60mph. The car in front of me hit a big white ice chest.
His air bags deployed and he was all over the highway. The ice chest went from his right front bumper to my left side door in a fraction of a second.

We both got out to take a look. There was very little damage to his bumper and zero damage to my door. Got out the wax when I got home but the hit is not visible.

Very lucky.

Very Lucky indeed! I had a 55gal drum roll off a trailer and had to serve to miss it, unfortunately the guys in the truck tailgating me didn't. Their truck front end exploded on impact blowing plastic grill and lights all over the highway. They kicked the doors open to get out and I could hear them cussing so loud, they were alright so I left. Karma I supposed, tailgaters beware.

Glad you're OK. I've noticed a lot of chit on 95 lately.

I hit a construction cone once that appeared out of nowhere...lol, actually I went to move around a slower vehicle only to find the reason was the right lane was closing down for construction, middle of the night. Anyway, hit the cone and it flew up and over me, going squarely through a dude's windshield who was tailgating me badly.

Lucky for you no damage. You just never know when there might be something in the road that can cause a problem.

Glad there wasn't any damage to your car. The knucklehead who lost the ice chest probably doesn't even know it's gone yet.

We usually get nails coming off pick-up trucks but with the South Florida building slow down, guess we have to settle for ice-chests.

I don't know if it's me, but lately I've been avoiding 95 whenever I can. I feel like I'm a target

At least the annual exodus has started! Been seeing a lot of car trailers heading north.

The official language of Hollywood Beach in the past few weeks, has changed from Canadian (French) back to English (American).

Glad the car is OK,,how's the interior? I know if that had been mine,,,,it probably would have a brown spot in the middle of the drivers seat!! Glad it didn't lead to a more serious incident!!

To be candid with you, it happened so fast, I didn't have time to do something stupid like whip the wheel to avoid the ice chest. It did get my heart going, especially at 5:30am.

Is that the new 'James Bond' gadget that's available to get rid of tailgaters?!

I ran over a truck axle once on 95 (not in the corvette). It tore up the bottom of the car real good. I had nowhere to go, cars on both sides and going way too fast to stop in time. I've seen all sorts of stuff fly off the back of trucks. Beds, couches, BBQ's and plywood, just to name a few.

I sure hope so! He was trying to get into a race with me and I was trying to ignore him but thought, here's my chance to get around him and leave him behind...wrong on my part but he paid the price. My right front bumper took a scraping too so I wasn't let off easily.
