Hi All! I am a complete newbie to all this - never owned a Corvette, never posted to a forum, all this stuff. Since I'm new, be gentle with me!
I just purchased a 1999 white coupe with 167,000 on the odometer. Body and interior are good with only expected wear seen. Supposedly it has LG Motorsports G5X3 cam with 114' lobes, ported heads, headers, x-pipe, and cats. It had racing mufflers but they were way too loud, so I put on stock units that the owner gave me. Again, supposedly has a LS7 clutch and the transmission and diff. have been reworked with Z06 parts, but I am not sure of all these claims. It definitely has a bigger cam and the exhaust mods, and the clutch is much stiffer than stock. Not so sure about the tranny and diff. The car still has great drivability and really goes when the hammer is down. My previous most exciting ride was a riding lawn mower, so I am having to learn how to drive a powerful car all over again.
My eventual goal is to have a car that does everything. A daily driver that can get 30 mpg on the highway, break 200 mph on top end, cut corners on an autocross, hold its own on a road course, hit a high 11 sec. ET at the drags, and turn heads at the local cruise night. And also not break the bank. I can't think of a better platform than the C5. Any and all suggestions and comments are welcome. I'm sure I will have a million questions in the future!
Good luck w/ the 200mph thing and 11 sec 1/4 miles. A car w/ 167K miles on it is kind of LONG in the tooth and I doubt your going to turn many heads with a 13 yr. old White Vette.

Yes, 167K is a lot of miles - I figure I will be doing a lot of replacing parts in the future. And a plain jane white corvette might not attract much attention, but it gets a lot more comments than my "98 chevy pickup! All a matter of perspective!
The previous owner didn't have any of the records on the modifications - they were all supposedly done by the person he bought the car from, but he has not been very forthcoming in providing his name. Is there any way to find who has owned a car in the past? I would like to get the history on this car if I can just to document what it's been through.

Thanks for the Welcome!
If the guy can still get in touch with the owner before him maybe he would give you the name of the shop the work was done at rather than his personal information. I'm sure the shop would be able to bring up the work done on your car.
Congrats on the new purchase and welcome to the forum. You won't be breaking the 200mph mark but enjoying taking it to car shows, daily driving, and occasional auto-X are all still possible!
Congrats on the new ride. This is a great place to learn about your car.
It's nice to see fellow Tennesseeans getting C5's. Especially modded C5's because they are so much fun. I'd be curious to know where you bought the car since I live close to you I might know who did the work.
If there is ever anything I can help with please don't hesitate to shoot me a pm.

Congrats on getting your first Vette and on joining the forum. You certainly have some high expectations from the car, but hey, gives you something to work towards. Hope you can meet at least most of the goals you have set.
