Default C5 body lines question

In my hunt for a C5 i've noticed that some of them have a body line from the middle of the vent behind the front wheel back, and some do not. Why is this? I've seen them with and without in all different years...

It's a body side moulding, some people remove them for a cleaner look, they are applied with 2 way adhesive tape

They are called Body Side Moldings or BSMs for short. Most are dealer add ons.

Many, many debates on the forum over the years as many members have a love/hate opinion.

Most common way to remove them is by using fishing line and a hair dryer to soften the adhesive.

I personally like mine and I think they match up well with my Caravaggio rear spoiler.

Uh oh.. My '01 had them and I removed them as the peer pressure from Frank(JETZ)was too great So glad I did. But if someone likes them they should keep them

I had never heard that before. I thought they were nearly all a factory option. It is listed as RPO number B84 for $75 (except increased to $150 in 2003 & 2004)

Just like trunk mats, mud flaps and floor mats, most dealers order their inventory stock with common factory options to increase the price and offer more room to negotiate.

Most were factory installed, not dealer and were ordered as an option as stated. I like them, but my current 03 Anniv Edition convertible looks just like the one in your example (without). I wish it did have them, but I'm not adding them. I have to admit it's easier to wash and wax without them.

I would seriously doubt most were dealer add ons. They were an option you checked off when ordering the car (either the individual buyer or the dealership).

That's not down force.

They suck, so they are pulling the car down to the ground.

Got rid of mine within a week of getting the car. No other mods necessary to improve the looks.

I heard you gain 30hp by adding them cause they smoothed out the air flow.
