Default Chevy owners

Its clear to me that some of us have forgotten that we are simply Chevy corvette owners... And have forgotten I guess where we have come from as for me heck I get out of bed every morning and swing a hammer for a living and have worked my butt off to save the money to buy my Z06 which brings me to this... I'm new here yes but after reading some of the post that other members have put on here I'm not so sure I would want to be a part of what I've read... Such as a brother ask a sid guestion question "how do u think my c5 would look with black rims" and some *** has to post
I don't think it would look good cause the car isn't Customized... Really
Are u kidding me just because another brothers car isn't custom you would say that..... Your the the guy at a stop light with his nose in the air with a little 20 yr broad sitting next to him and I'm the proud owner sitting across from you with a Z06 that's ready to jump out of its frame from the horsepower she has ..... That will run your butt down and Embaress u in front of the little broad sitting next to you... Where's the Chevy heritage my Brothers, onething is forsure my new friends out there me and my Z06 aren't to good for any of you'll

James,

You need to catch your breath and lighten up a little. I'm fairly new to this board too but, it's all about opinions and like another body part that shall remain nameless, we all have one. Some members remain stock (me). Some go for performance (sounds like you might fit here), and others like custom mods. The key is to listen to all and make your own judgments based on everyone's comments. Some are less than diplomatic in giving their opinions but if you asked for one, read it and go on from there. This site has a wealth of information and I have learned a great deal about the workings of my C5. Good luck in what ever route you chose to follow.

Scott

Take it from someone who has been around here a while, James' point is correct. While there are plenty of folks out there who are always very helpful, there are an equal number of trolls who want nothing more than to take their "opinion" to a new level with a dose of heavy critical lather! Unneeded and uncalled for! In fact that type of response has really caused me to stop posting except for specific tech questions. You simply cant get pure objective opinions on most things because of the azzwipes!! or at least you have to sift through 10 azzwipe responses to find one genuine one!

Welcome to the Internet, Dude. You just have to grow thick skin and consider the opinions of strangers to be irrelevant until proven otherwise.

People on a public forum can hide behind their keyboard and post opinions that they would never say to someone if they were standing next to them. Don't worry about, get your car and mod it the way you want and stop worring about what other people say to you.

My take is that if you ask a question like that, you are sort of asking for what you get. I wouldn't ask such a question since I don't much care what someone else thinks looks good. It's my car and my money so I will do with it what I like. Everone has different taste. Some like skinny women and some like big corn fed ones. It's what makes the world go round.

BTW, I never cared for black rims on anything.

I agree with the others here too. Each of us has their own opinions, likes, dislikes, dreams and wishes. Not everyone will agree that this look or that look is the best way it should be. Just because I'm an OEM type person, doesn't mean someone with twin-turbos or a SC isn't enjoying their car. Same goes for the colored accessories...what works for one, might not work for someone else. The object is to enjoy your car and have fun. Its a hobby for many of us and we're fiercely proud of our machines!

If you don't want to know what someone thinks, leave "what do you think" out of the question. This is a worldwide forum and surely you don't expect everyone in the world to think everything you do to your car makes it look better to everyone else. If you think the example you picked about black wheels is so disgusting, you're in for an angry day about anytime you read one of those "what do you think of X" threads. The thing that angers most is the lack of tact some use because they aren't face to face. If someone asked you the same question at a cruise-in or show, you'd probably give a much softer answer than sitting in the dark typing on a keyboard with no personal interaction with them. I make it a point to say, "just put new wheels on" instead of "what do you think of my new wheels" because I don't really care what anyone thinks, I just want to show whatever friends I may have on the forum (if any) what's happening with my car.

I'm with Scott..... Take a breath and realize that this is an internet community you are posting too... Can't let words from behind a keyboard bother you man. Sounds like you might need to hit the gym and take out some aggression.

I understand where you're comming from James. As a newbie myself I almost got put off the whole forum experience by a couple of trolls. With a little reflection, I realized the forum is just a microcosm of the rest of the world. Just like the rest of the world, there are some people that you just have to shine on. Of course there are also some who need their butts kicked and you'll find that the rest of the forum steps up and does just that when called for. I do agree however that when someone asks for an opinion, they should expect a few that will rankle. I have expressed a few myself that many would disagree with, I just try to state it as just that: my opinion. Overall, I thiink you'll find the forum a welcoming place with a world of helpful information.

Everyone won't always like the same things. Everyone won't always agree with eachother. And everyones opinion is different.

If you ask for an opinion on here, people will give you theirs. That's what they think, and that's what you asked for. Some should word theirs a little nicer, but I wouldn't get mad unless they were a total *** hole about it and werent constructive.

This will happen anywhere you go though.

Haha. The old "black rim debate"
Everyone has their own opinion of what looks good. Heck, I painted my rims black two years ago and thought they looked cool. Now I think they are hideous and going back to polished aluminum. It's just an opinion. Now if someone was giving out false facts, then there would be a problem.

Also, I'm not sure what someone's opinion has to do with being a Chevy owner??

When you ask "what do you think" people should feel free to express just that. Isn't that what the poster is asking for? You are actually doing him a favor if done without insults and I don't view your example as an insult.

If you dare ask "how does it look?" better get a thick skin. Relax, it's the internet.

I've been here a long time - almost 10 years. I've seen a lot of people come and go. Over that time - there have been members that have ticked me off, and even a few that totally enraged me. Bottom line is that most of them have moved on to other things, and are pizzing someone else off.

There is a little feature here on this forum known as the "IGNORE" list. When you put a member's name on that list, you won't receive private messages or see their posts. If you chose to see what they've written you can click on the "VIEW POST" in the thread.

I have a healthy list of people that are on my ignore list - why get my blood pressure elevated over some a$$clown who's only purpose in life to stir it up. Simply ignore them - enjoy your time here and be happy.

Happy motoring!

I would give a more honest opinion on this forum than face to face simply because I would'nt want to look a person in the eye and tell him that I think his new $3000 rims look like crap, if he asked for my opinion.

This is spot on, however it would be nice if those responding would provide their opinions in a more civil manner. Everyone has an opinion or preference, but no one need to be belittled by another member. Zuti

You ask a question like that here, you get all sorts of answers, some good, some not so good. But in the end, it's up to the owner to make the decision on what they would like on their car. I take responsibility for what my car looks like and realize that others may not like what I have done to it.

Ah yes - Trolls. If you're going to ask 'What do you think' questions, then expect negative responses. You're asking what they think - what do you expect? Of course there are polite ways to say something negative but a lot of people don't re-read their own reply objectively before posting it. It's a major reason I usually don't post like that. Why??? Look at my car!!!

Out of all the Vettes ever made, this has got to be the most ugly/best looking one produced! I love my car but I don't need negative comments that come with it. When I get my Top Flight Reproductions shift ****, I'll post my interior shot with something like, 'Almost finished the interior, just need a double din '. I WON"T ask, 'How do you like it so far?'.
