Boys will be Boys
But anyway in the short amount of time I've been driving my silver2003 Z06, I have had many people at the gas station, store parking lots, people on the road giving me a thumbs up, commenting on the car. But the thing that makes me smile the biggest is when I pass by a group of boys who stop and point at it when I go by. One day I was driving by 3 or 4 kids riding thier bikes, I admit I was intentionally keeping the rpms around 2k, cause I love the way it sounds. But anyway they stopped and started pointing at it and smiling. Then one evening I was driving through town, this kid rolled his window down and yelled nice car across two lanes of traffic. When I'm washing it in the drive way all the boys that go by always comment on the vette. One kid even stopped on the side of the road and just stared at it as I went by, I gave it a little rev and he just smiled the biggest grin you ever saw.
It don't know but boys and Corvettes, must have a special connection. I know this post is stupid but I just makes me smile and makes me love the vette everytime I get in it. Also tells me that I wasn't a wacko when I was a teenager and fell in love with vettes. So remember when you're out driving the younger generation is watching you! I know I have made some kids future vette owners.

P.S. I know being in a smaller town in Wyoming (pop. 30,000) probably has something to do with it, but it still is fun!

I don't think your post is stupid, my feelings and experiences have been much the same as yours. I have always wanted a vette since I was a teenager, to finally own my dream car makes me smile every day.

I was doing the slow RPM cruise through the pick up line with my Corsas providing the soundtrack. Although the soccer mom SUVs were the popular vehicle of choice, I was wedged between a C-Class Mercedes and a BMW 5-Series. It was getting dark so after I flipped up my ACA HIDs, a got a lot of pointed fingers and "cool" remarks from the 5th grade crowd.
I aim to please...
I always knew driving a Vette would be a great experience. And I'm not one of those look at me type of guys, but since driving the Vette I have had to work on my talking to others skills! lol It's just too much fun. Wanna drive it now!

I have a better apperication of the c6 now, but it will never have the "wow" factor of pop-ups. The kid in me still gets a rise out of the sound of the head lights coming up.
!From way back to this day,a healthy exhaust,,especially if there is a little cam there GRABS my attention,,even when it's a pick-up, seems like they get more exhaust systems now than cars. I'm just a car nut,,a health's note from a vette,camaro,mustang,pick-up or what ever will stir that primal feeling
!! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!
A few days ago, a 10 year old boy was walking by as I was getting out of the car in my condo's parking garage. He told me how much he loved my car and asked if it was a Corvette. When I said yes he said at first he thought it was a Lambo haha. Then we were in the elevator together and he was telling his family that I was the guy with the yellow Corvette, going on and on like i was a movie star. I had had a terrible day up until that point and the kid's words really made my day.
If I am at a car show and some kids strike up a convo on how much they love the car I always let them sit in it with their parents' permission. Little do they know, even the cheapest new small commuter car costs more than the majority of C5s.
Corvette ownership truely is a wonderful thing
The next thing I know these 2 guys are wanting me to roll down my passenger window. I roll it down, they are are smiling and say do a burn out. We were going about 40, 45 mph, so I smile, drop her down into second, and goose it, the tires break loose the *** end kicks out, and they just start yelling "bad *** car", and hooting and hollering, and giving me the thumbs up.

But to the 10 year old - it was apparently a very big deal. All he talked about for the remainder of his vacation was that car. He called a bunch of friends back home and told them about his experience.
His new dream car is a Corvette - maybe I saved the world from a potential ricer, maybe I offered another young guy something to work towards and dream about. Either way - it made me smile thinking about what it was like to be 10 years old again, dreaming about Corvettes.
Yes - there is something special about these cars, and to those of you that help perpetuate the dream, I say good for you!

It might be taken wrong if I replied: "No, but it sure attracts 10 year old boys!!"

I'll repeat something that happened to me driving with my window down a couple of summers ago here in Portland.
Two way narrow street and a Mom and young boy are on the sidewalk when I pass by.
The kid stops dead in his tracks forcing Mom to stop too.
As I pass by, his eyes are wide as I hear him slowly say.......
"L...a....m....b...o....r...g...h....i.. ..n...i "
I have wanted one since I was about 12 .....46 years ago!
Got mine last year so it was a 45 year wait

My wife didn't start wanting one until she was about 16 when some guy let her drive his C2.
I think she would trade me and her first born child for a C2 now

Now I own two. It sometimes takes threads like this to remind me how fortunate I really am.
Saw my dream 'Vette at aged 14 while delivering papers - Yellow '82 T-top with the chrome slotted wheels. One day I WILL get it!
