As far as steps go,
Take off the intake and other parts you want to paint. I bought an LS6 valley cover to update the PCV setup, so the intake was off the car anyway.
I pulled the valve covers off and disassembled the coil packs so that I could paint the brackets.
Wash everything with degreaser, basically wet sand with a Scotchbright pad, rinse, then wipe down with rubbing alcohol.
Do several light coats rather than one thick coat of paint.
At this point you might as well replace the gaskets between the FAST and the heads.
I also replaced the ugly, rust colored bolts with shiny, stainless ones.
Look at the oil pressure sending unit for evidence of leakage.
I didn't paint the fuel rail or the coil packs themselves.
Follow torque specs putting everything back together.
Done. It's a nice weekend project.

Really nice job on yours also, did you sand that FAST smooth or is that alot of coats of paint?
