Default Console: how-the-heck ?

I'm trying to strip down a C5 console and I have it all striped down except for the gas cap door switch. I've looked all over it and I cannot figure out what the heck holds in in there? Anyone able to help me ? Thank you !

i believe it has "prongs" on each side that need to be pressed to release the switch from the housing and it just pushes upward and out of the housing. i found releasing the harness connector to the switch more difficult than removing the switch, lol.

Most of the time the switch comes out of it's "home/bracket", simply by accident when removing the console.

Yes, it does have prongs that need to be released. Had mine out not long ago when I had the console base painted.

Default Well. . .

You guys said it snaps out and I had my script and a tiny screwdriver and my little LED flashlight and I couldn't see anything except the one tab or prong and you said it snaps out so I pushed the tab with the scribe and pulled and you were right, It just snaps out, one piece comes out and the button lifts out. Thank you guys !

Putting it back on was worse. That's when I found out how to take it out, mine plopped out on me as I was struggling with it Much easier that way.

Mine did
I went one step beyond.
I have taken my console out or slid back so often....
I soldered longer wires to the switch & have male/female disconnects attached, just so that switch is not disturbed, when slideing back or removal.
Good luck.

Do you need a brand new waterfall C5 emblem? I have one I want to sell...thought it was for the front end, got fooled by the shape not realizing it was for a vert....

It turns out, the waterfall emblem is not the same as the front end emblem...slightly smaller, and has more arch to it. Perfect shape, never mounted. I have no use for it....I'll do $27 shipped, and I'll eat the paypal fees.

Default Longterm project ?

Well Gents, It is finally coming to a close. I started this project last December. The company in Rockwall TX. has finally finished the three pieces of the console. It is coming back and I have an electronics company ready to reinstall the electric switches and the like back in the now refinished parts and the small trim panel. I wasn't too sure that the switch panel with the T/C and the F55 switch & passenger seat belt light, but they pulled it off and I can't tell you how fantastic it looks. Once I'm done with the reinstall I'll post pics. hope you like the accent it adds to the shale interior. Thank you for your advice and support. The company does fantastic work.
