Default Blinking air cond. light

Why does the light on my air conditioner button blink for a few seconds and then go off? Does not seem to be really cold air coming from vents either. 99 Vette

Low refigerant would be my 1st guess. Is the compressor even kicking on?

The main reason is because the outside air temp is below about 36 degrees.

Then the compressor will never start and the light will blink.

No.

The defrost will NOT run the air conditioner below about 36 degrees. That is one of the poor design "features" of the C5.

Here in the rainy NorthWest it is a real problem. You will be driving down the freeway with the defrost on and the temp goes below about 36.

All of a sudden the windshield will fog over and you will think you are back in your 1958 VW Beetle, and wish you had a rag.

Mine does it on florida when I first start the car. Blows 49° air. Works fine. I always thought it was a diagnostic thing on start up?
