Default Trans and differential fluid

Puttting a Monster stage 2 clutch in my Z and while I have everthing out I am going to change the fluid in the rear and trans. Looks like the trans holds 4 quarts but cant seem to find the capacity of the rear.
Can anyone help. Thinking of using Redline D4 for the trans and 75W-90 for the rear with additive for the limited slip. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I used Red Line first in the trans but now I've switched to Royal Purple Synchromax.

Same here. The diff will only take about 1.7 QT. DON`T over fill!! Trans will take little less than 4 QT. I have Royal Purp. in both Noticable improvement in shifting!

The rear end holds just short of 2 quarts. I've used D4 in my DD and in my track car for a long time.
The Redline 75W-90 does not need any modifier added to it, it's already in there.
The Redline 75W-90 NS does not work well in our differentials.

What is 75W-90 NS I looked in the Summitt catalog and saw 75W-90 recommended for limited slip dif. Are there two different 75w90?

Yes, one you want is the one it sounds like your getting ready to buy that being the 75w90 which already contains limited slip friction modifiers.

The other oil , 75w90 NS Redline, is for non-limited slip transaxles

Dont buy the RP. Youll be changing it in a few thousand miles.... Amsoil Torque Drive is a much better product for the transmission. Amsoil also has rear end lube for our cars. Look up Subdriver on the forum. Hes a good guy with great knowledge about fluids and lubes.

Tranny... I used about 80% of the below container.

Differential ... I used 1 container, and 75% of the second one if I remember correctly. You don't need the slip lock I'm told. I just put a little in just in case. Make sure to do multiple figure 8's in a parking lot to get the fluid in the clutch packs or you risk getting gear whine.

Ran RP in the trans and diff for about 6K miles, and it shifted well when up to operating temps, but cold shifting wasn't great. Switched to Amsoil that I got from Subdriver on here...it was noticeably better on cold shifts, and as good or better at operating temps.

I use the same. I did not use the Slip Lock however.

It is. I tried GM, then Royal Purple, now Torque Drive. The difference in shifting effort is huge.... especially when the fluid is cold. Also, I used to get a slight grind going into second gear about every 1 in a couple of hundred shifts... hasnt happened since changing to torque Drive.

BTW, I also installed the Monster Level 2 clutch. Its an excellent choice... great street manners and only a slight increase in pedal effort.

I use Royal Purple in both my trans and diff also. Many thousands of trouble free driving and absolutely no problems. So tell me, why will I be changing my oils in a few miles? RP products have worked well for me. Maybe if I could buy Amsoil locally in a store I'd try them, but when I decide its time to do a change I'd rather not have to first mail-order oil products. Convince me why I should. BTW, I tried a few different oils in my trans and RP was the smoothest, cold or warm. Also, their diff oil also does not modifier added to it, it's in it already.

All I can tell you is first, talk with Subdriver here on the forum. He sells the Amsoil products, but will also give you a side by side comparison of statistical information on any fluid you have an interest in. Theres many people on here who have noticed a great improvement when switching to Amsoil. I ran RP for about 10k miles and noticed an increased effort in shifting especially when cold even when the fluid was fairly new. Amsoil cured the problem for me. When warm, its as smooth as silk and I have an MGW short shifter also. Subdriver is a great guy and he had my fluid to me in 3 days. Give it a try and if you dont like it, switch back to the RP is all I can say.

I used to feel the same way...but I did not like the cold shifting properties of the RP and decided I did not want to live with it any longer because I knew something must be better. Contacted Subdriver, and recived my products within a couple days of my order, and was much cheaper that what i paid for my RP off the shelf at Pep Boys. In all honesty; try or don't try it...I don't really care, its your car. But you're missing out on a superior product IMO...

Ordered the Amsoil torque-drive yesterday, hoping it helps with my cold shifting in my 02z. Ever since I switched to Mobil 1 it seems to take more effort to shift, especially when cold.
