Corvette Family, I'm worried about putting too many miles on my C5 baby. It only has close to 7000 miles on it and it's a 2004. I've just been stationed here in Twentynine Palms, Ca and I hate this place. I find myself putting like 30 miles on it per day. Is this normal and ok?? I'm so worried about my baby.
Drive it and enjoy it. I have found there is only a grand or two difference between one with 5k miles and one with 25k miles so it really doesn't pay to worry about putting on some miles. With only 7k miles on it now it will never be a high mile car so drive it and enjoy it. I have put around 500,000 miles on the 25 vettes I have owned and never have owned a garage queen yet including the 22 years I drove vettes year around when I lived in Minneapolis.
I sold this 2001 convert last summer with 95k miles on it and it sold in 3 days for nearly as much as ones with 1/2 that many miles.
This is one of the photos at 95k miles that I took of it for the eBay ad.
Miles is of no consequence. A car will last as long as you want it to last.
I've put 10K on my FRC since last February. And it's not even my DD.
Getting ready for the HRPT, going to Detroit and then down to Arlington and back home.
I look at this way, you can put a few bucks each year into it and drive forever, or you can buy a new one and have car payments. This way I get to have what I really want.
But you will always be able to find a low mile vette if you ever want to replace it. You can still find C3's with less than 50K on them and less then 20K on a C4. The C5 and C6 will be no different.
I love these guys who garage them and care for them the way they do.

238,000 miles on my 1998. Bought it with 52,000 back in 2002. Never had the engine opened for any repairs. Did a trip to Florida this past winter, planning on doing it again this winter.
Some corvette owners really amaze me........DRIVE THE FRIGGIN CAR! My high mileage 04 only get passed up for my high mileage tahoe if I don't feel like bending my azz over to get in the car.
I've never quite understood the logic of someone else being concerned about how I use a car that I bought and paid for. I have 24,000 on my '98. I've never driven it in the rain or washed it in the 12-years I've owned it, and I've enjoyed every minute of that time.

Why worry about it - not like the C5 is going to be a collectors item anytime soon. Get out there and drive the car - and don't worry about putting the miles on it - instead concentrate on putting the smile on your face each time you get behind the wheel.
Guys it may be just me but i have seen a lot of somewhat silly posts on here lately i think some of these posts are b.s.
this is this guys first post and this is what he asked
i could be wrong BUT!!!!

If you are putting 30miles a day on it that would be about 11000 miles per year.
How many miles do you want to put on it in a year?
