Default Is 15k enough ?

Can you get into a C5 for 15 ? I know I might be able to find ones in that price range but are they anything a first time C5 guy would want ? At 15k am I just looking at someones worn out toy that ners work ? Or are there good solid C5s for around 15 that can be driven and enjoyed for a few years before big repairs set in ? Please help. I may have an offer on my C3 and want to know if I can consider a C5 next or move on to something else.

Yes you can find a C5 for around $15K - and how well it will hold up will in great part depend on how well it was maintained. Yes it will have probably 75K or so miles on it and be an early model. But the C5 is a pretty reliable car so don't be afraid of that many miles.

Not a problem as Jack stated above, if well maintained they will last for 150+ on the clock

Go for it, you should have little issues with one that has been taken care of.

My wife is concerned it will be in the shop kidnapped for high dollar repairs and we won't be able to drive it. I'm used to be able to fix my car in the garage. At least it seems under my control that way. I guess I'll feel better letting mine go if I know there is a C5 out there for me.

A co-worker just bought his first Corvette, a '99 A4 coupe with 73k miles on it. The mods I can see include exhaust and wheels and there may be others as I haven't been in the car. He took it to a local dealer for a "tune up", fluid changes, a/c work and a front turn signal bulb. $1,700 later and he still has a/c problems but overall it may not be a bad car, just a little behind on maintenance.

He paid $15,000.

No problem at all to find a great one for $15K. The pics on my profile represent a 73K mile car I bought 3 years ago for $14.5K. It came with Corsa, Honker, aftermarket wheels, new seat leather and a nice tune. The car has given me 30K trouble-free miles since then. I've got about $1.5K into it over the three years for tires, brakes, fluids etc. and will probably spend another $1.5K this spring for shocks and ac compressor. I expect plenty more dependable, fun and affordable miles.

Look for an obsessive owner with service records. There are plenty of them -- sooner or later one of them will be ready to upgrade and their baby will become yours.

Good luck.

I am selling my 2001 Pewter Coupe for $15,250 - here's a link to my forum ad - please check out the pics I have a link to. I love this car but have to sell it - it is in excellent condition both inside and out. I have always maintained it . I had my Corvette mechanic go thru it completely 2 weeks ago and I replaced anything that was needed - including the battery, EBCM and oil Pressure Sensor. I have also completely detailed the car inside and out so it is ready for this Summers Corvette shows

After finding one with a good history, you may only have to worry about your wife kidnapping the car after she drives it!

Yes you can...... I bought my 99 two years ago for $15,500 ... had only 24,000 miles on it. All original and torch red with clean title.

I admit I got a good deal, but they are out there. Found mine on craigslist. Took about 6 - 10 months. But worth the wait.

Take your time. You WILL find one.

thanks guys...its looking more and more like this will happen eventually. maybe even this summer ! Bobd207s....believe it or not a silver 2000-2001 is exactly what the wife and i are discussing. im not sure talking any farther about yours is a good thing to do until my C3 goes. i have a guy that sounds serious coming tomorrow to look.

the only issue is the wife thinks i might take a few months to buy another car after the C3 goes. i know better. ill probably have a new ride within weeks.
