Default back trouble

I hurt my back 3 weeks ago... today was the first day back in the vette (after one session at the chiropractor!). I'll say that i feel like i look a like an old man sitting down then rotating my body to get in the drivers seat, but i dont care. fortunately the seats and lumbar settings make me feel comfortable sitting in the cockpit... the left leg has some pain so my shifting is a rusty.

oh how i have missed her! In fact, the last 2 nights ive had nightmares about the car either falling apart or me "losing" it. it may be the meds i am on, or some subconscious warning me to use it or lose it... idk, I'm no shrink.

love my girl!

Default Back troubles !

I hear ya brother. I have a real severe back damage. I've been able to get in and out of my 2003 up till now. But come next month on the 7th, I go in for some drastic repair work. But I hurt my back 6 years ago in NYC and after six years, I need some relief. The Dr.s wanted to start me on narcotic pain killers, but being a friend of Bill's I knew that wasn't anything I was going to deal with. So surgery is my one hope now.

Been through several MAJOR back surgeries including a few two level spinal fusions and spinal fusions from the front (abdomen)and rear (back)at the same time. Piece of cake.
I have more titanium in my spine than an F15 Eagle but getting in the Vette is still pretty easy.

The pain you have been experiencing is NOT good. I trust that all will go well with you on the 7th of next month. Soon back in the Corvette!!!

I have had three L4/5 surgeries in the last 20 years. Which is why I drive an automatic. Install a vibrator in the lower back cushion of your C5 seat. Makes a great difference !

Getting into the car is at least a little therapy in itself. Hope your back gets to feeling better soon.

Shattered L4 & L5 vertaba a few years ago falling off a ladder. Already had bad discs in four places, and have disc degeneration in T5/6/7 areas. Getting in & out of my '99 is tough sometimes, but the seats are surprisingly comfortable & supportive, so driving is no issue.

I have several herniated doscs and a stenosis of the spine. I go for regular injections and am on pain pills. When I do use my Vette, I find it more comfortable than other cars. The doctor feels I'm not a good candidate for surgery so it's just a way of life for me. I miss doing a really serious detail on the car because I'll suffer later.
Well, I can still wave!!! LOL

I binned my Ducati on April 7, to the tune of 12 fractures on 8 right side ribs, plus a partially collapsed lung. I got in and out of the car today for the first time since. When I get done reading the forum, I think I'll sit in it for a few minutes. Will probably try to operate the car this Saturday.

Wow, sounds like you are lucky to be alive. I wanted to buy a Harley but my relatives said they were not going to look after me if I was injured and suggested a Vette if I had to have a toy. (I am single) In reading your post theirs was probably a good idea. I have had many bikes before but the increased traffic makes them dangerous. Wishing you a complete and speedy recovery. On the topic of bad backs, I owned a C3 Vette for many years and when my back bothered me I would go for a drive to fix it..those seats were the best!! Superior to the C5 for sure and they had not one adjustment either, go figure.
Greetings, Rob

Good luck to all of you who are ailing.I too have had many injuries, 13 major surgeries to be exact The best was a new right knee joint a couple years ago I just wanted to say that the adjustments in the sport seats in my 01 convertible make for a fantastic comfortable ride.At 72 I am still kickin it.

I commend the surgeon and the patient for successful back surgery.
I was not so lucky and the surgery I had was unsuccessful and I
have been on narcotics for 10 years. I would think long and hard
before opting for the knife. You talk to folks who have gone that
route and the majority say they should'nt have done it. I would always
wish good luck for surgery but try all other means first.----
I have no issues getting in or out of my vette (once in there are enough
seat adjustments that one can find a level of comfort) it's just a matter
of technique. We love our Vettes don't we?????

I suffered from Spinal stenosis for years and finally went under the knife. They fused three lumbar vertabrae and after a 6 month hiatis from golf I'm better than new. I lost a bit of fexibility, but the pain is gone. I hope you have simnialr results.
