There were times when Americans shyed away from anything made in Japan. It seems these countries have a way of adapting to the requirements of their buying public. it remains to be seen if Chinese products will ever reach the quality of Japanese manufacturers, but the stuff at HF is not all bad, regardess what of those who never use or buy them opine.
I want to buy American, but you just are not able to. Check out your local Harley shop and all the stuff made in China. Harbor Freight is great for tools you use once or twice every couple of months. Why spend a lot of $$$ if the tool is not used daily. Check out the tools at Home Depot, Lowes, and Sears - the great majority are made overseas. Check out all the wheels for our favorite vehicle - made in China. Of course, I did find a couple of USA made wheels. Which would you buy - the one that meets DOT standards for 250 or made one that meets DOT standards for $3500 each. Which one is the foreign one? I think you guessed right. Which vendors sell only USA made products for Vettes and tools?
Just a word of caution. I have had that little HF "charger" for, maybe, 6-7 years. It has been absolutely perfect. I use it whenever I think the Vette will be setting for more than 5-7 days. The caution is: this is not a charger, it is a "maintainer" for lead-acid flooded batteries that are at 12v or more when connected. That is per their owner's manual.
I've also have their aluminum racing jack, only the next price up, for about the same amount of time. It too, has been flawless.
