I'm seriously persuing racing in SCCA and NASA. What would I need to begin competing in Club Racing events? A harness? Tires? What size? Clutch? What brand? Sway bars? Suspension? I have a 1999 FRC, mostly stock except some B&B Bullets and CAI. I need advice. All suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.
I'd invest in an oil cooler, a better timing chain and damper if you have it, a different balancer, an aftermarket shifter and probably a clutch soon after.
The main answer is it all depends ----
Do you want to Autocross, run Time Trials or run wheel to wheel ? What is your level of driving experience, beginner or advanced driver ? Car preparation varies dramatically in terms of what you have to do per racing class and associated cost. Figure out what car you want to run, what class, and most importantly your budget !! If you are a beginning driver, I would suggest a couple of events in a High Performance Driving School to get acclimated. Check out the Autocross and Roadracing section of the forum in the general section. There is a HUGE AMOUNT of information regarding getting started and car prep there.

Do some research in SCCA and other organizations you are interested in. Some classes and clubs have strict rules on specific items you may or may not be able to modify.
If you are interested in driving schools, not racing, then you don't need to modify anything. Especially as a beginner.
Helmet
Fresh brake fluid inc. complete flush and bleed
Fresh OEM brake rotors
Fresh brake pads, OEM if you plan to take it easy, Hawk HP+ if you want to whomp on them for your first time, you will learn what other pads to go to once you get your feet wet.
Newish tires (not old dried up POS run-flats) something no later than 5 years old.
Thanks for the advice. What about changing the seats for a harness? Any suggested vendors? I don't have racing experience. I plan to take a course at with either NASA or SCCA, whichever has a more events near MD. I have been reviewing both sites and haven't determined yet. Any suggestions, opinions on which is best for a beginner?
Brey Krause is a popular harness bar. Google search corvette harness bar and you should find good stuff. LG Motorsports and Doug Rippe are long time Corvette racers/venders. Search for them too. raceshopper.com good place too.

that track is a couple hours from ya in Waldorf.. but i have a friend who has had racing lessons from people who know how to race... then went through licensing and all that...
depending on what organization you get in to, there are "points" assigned to mods and due to the power/weight ratio, you might not be able to go too crazy before you get put in the "unlimited" class where $ is no object.
if you're in to going 1/4 mile at a time, down the road in budds creek, is MIR, and up the road in Crofton is Capitol Raceway, which i know has a test and tune on fridays.
