Went for a Dyno Tune yesterday. The engine light was on and the tuner found a low voltage knock sensor. He said he couldn't proceed with the tune until the sensor was replaced. There are two knock sensors under the manifold. The read out on his lap top could not tell him which one was defective so I am having both replaced ($120.00 + labor).
Good suggestions above to remedy the problem.
Weird because the 200o vert has only 17,000 miles on the odomoter
120 plus labor is high. Knock sensors are cheap and easy to replace. Do both while under there and have them seal the gasket as well. Take an hour to do it urself.

The dyno operator did exactly what he/she should have. Your car needs to be in proper working order prior to dynoing, plus diognosing and removing your intake etc to install your knock sensors for $120 labor is a very fair price IMO.

Well got my vert back the other day; the actual price for the labor was much higher than expected (also required a new manifold gasket). Vert runs very smooth now however the engine light came back on the following day but I had no problem driving the car. After about a 45 minute drive the engine light went off and has not returned.
The Technician said the dyno failed because it was mis-firing and he wasnt comfortable proceeding to higher gear something along those lines (I never dyno'ed or tuned by vet before. This is all new to me, apologize if I am not using the proper terminology).
He said it could be bad gas or the need to tune the car. He didnt charge me anything since he couldnt do the dyno (I guess that was nice).
So I didnt get any printout. He reached 215 or 250 before i guess it mis-fired or called it a stop.
I drive the car and I really dont feel anything wrong with it. So I was surprised to hear that
Being an 01,,good possibility that plugs and wires may be in order. Cars that got the original platinum plugs often lost the little platinum "pucks" off of the ground strap. This greatly widened the gap. Every day driving seems fine but higher RPM running can show up the weakness,,but can be overlooked/masked to someone not familiar with it.
A knowledgeable tuner like Chuck CoW or ECS can hook it up and tell you exactly what is going on!! I'd give them a go and be happy rather than go through a guessing/throw parts at it and hope route!!
