Default HELP!! Electrical issues!

Hey guys I am having two problems that I am really freaking out about right now.

Number 1: My DIC will randomly come up saying that it needs service soon, shocks inopperable, service tpms, service stability control, reduce engine power, ect.

It just happens kind of randomly once or twice a week, but now it happened two times in a day.

Please help I am very confused. I just turn the car of and restart it and it works like nothing happened. And when they are all going off the car drives and works perfectly.

Number 2: All of the switches on the door quit working on me. No locks, windows, or mirrors. The switch on the other side of the car works fine. Is that just the switch or would it be that little box that it connects to?

Any help would be awesome!

Open the drivers door, there's a accordion tube that runs between the A pillar and door. pull both ends out. In the A pillar is a bundle of wires. Unplug them and clean both male and female ends of the plugs with some electrical cleaner. Plug them back together. Now do the same in the door end. Use some extra mobil 1 oil on the ends of the accordian tube to help getting it back into the holes. It should be fine now.
Bill
PS if you run the codes you'll find LDCM/ RDCM codes. Everything runs through the drivers door, and back to the computer.

If the above doesn't solve the problem, try contacting forum member Bill Curlee - he's very knowledgeable about electrical issues on the C5.

#1 sounds like the signs of a weak battery.

#2 if this is your passenger side, it is a common problem in the C5. The quick fix is to open the passenger door and jiggle the boot in the door jam.

Weak battery is the right answer! I think at least, because I went out to start my car this morning and the battery was dead.

I will replace today and see if it helps.

Also check and move the door wiring where it just comes into the body. There is a plate on my car that seems to hold the wiring as it just comes into the body, up under the dash/side of the car. I have had problems on the driver's side that give false codes/warnings. I went through everything that Bill has posted and he was a great help to me. good luck

Well the battery was dead yesterday morning, it was throwing all those codes so I thought that was the answer. So, I went to Walmart and bought a new battery. Put it in and everything worked again. There were no codes, and the drivers side windows and locks worked.

I was pumped. And then... after like 30 miles every thing was back to messed up.

Do I need to reset the codes or something? Or is there another issue? Could it be my alternator? I maintain 14 volts my entire drive so I don't think thats it. Please help me!

The accordian tube in the doors is your next stop-very common problem.

Check your grounding points for corrosion. Vettes are notorious with grounding issues.

Did you do what I suggested???? Replacing the battery and not addressing the original problem will only lead to a new dead battery. I had the same problem as you and cleaning the plugs in the door corrected the problem. After 4 years (3/14/08) I haven't had the issue return. Cleaning all the grounds is a good idea also. I do it every other year as regular maintenance. If you need assistance contact Bill Curlee, he is a great source of information on electrical issues.

I had this issue about a month ago, same lights coming on, pretty much making you think the car is possessed. I went away then reared it's ugly head again tonight only this time I had the windows down. With the passenger's door controls dead and no way to raise the window, I had to get this fixed.

Sure enough, I pulled the boot away from the side closest to the cabin, not the door side and found the two connectors. After disconnecting the battery I disconnected the connectors, sprayed them, and that did the trick. Took all of five minutes and she's back to normal.
