Default TPMS Question

I couldn't find the answer to my question in search so I brought it here.I just put new wheels and tires on my vette.I carried the wheels in and had them install the new TPMS and new Hankooks on the wheels. Now my pressure sensors are not working.Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
FRED

Did you relearn them? When you change the TPMS you have to do a relearn..

Take them by Les Schwab and they can fix you up.

Can't you use a strong magnet by by each valve stem while it's in learning mode? I thought I read that someplace.

I tried a magnet on mine after new wheels. No luck.

Fred, you need to match the new sensors to the car. The TPSs send radio signals to the RFA and on to the computer. Until you carry out a relearn the sensors will not work. The procedure is attached below

You need a very strong magnet. Once you go into learn mode and place the magnet next to the first TPS you'll hear a beep which lets you know that sensor has reprogramed. If you don't get the beep use a bigger magnet.

Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor Programming

The Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system interfaces with the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) through the serial data line. Once the program mode is accessed through the IPC, each sensor's unique identification code can be programmed into the receiver's memory. Each sensor must transmit the unique code in the proper sequence. A magnet must be held close to the sensor in order to force the sensor to transmit the identification code. The IPC will display a message as each sensor is programmed, and when to proceed to the next sensor for programming. The receiver also sends a message to the BCM to sound the horn one time, indicating that the sensor properly transmitted an identification code. If the programming sequence is cancelled before any sensor is programmed, or if the vehicle's battery is disconnected, the receiver will remember all current identification codes. As soon as the receiver learns the first sensor identification code, all previously stored codes are erased from the receiver's memory.
J 41760 Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) Programming Tool.
Tool required (any medium strength magnet, U or Disk type
1. Turn the ignition to ON.
2. Press the RESET button in order to clear any IPC display warning messages.
3. Press and release the OPTIONS button on the DIC to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank.
4. Press and hold the DIC RESET button for 3 seconds.
Notice: Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Cautions and Notices.
5. Press the OPTIONS button again until the TIRE TRAINING message appears.
6. Press the RESET button until the IPC LEARN L FRONT TIRE message appears in order to begin
the programming sequence.
7. Install the J 41760 Tire Pressure Programming Tool over the left front valve stem.
8. The horn will sound, indicating the left front TPM sensor is programmed.
9. When the horn sounds, proceed to program the next TPM sensor in the following order as directed
by the IPC messages:
- LEARN R FRONT TIRE
- LEARN R REAR TIRE
- LEARN L REAR TIRE
Programming Cancellation
1. The programming mode will be cancelled if any of the following conditions are met: - The program mode is exited through the DIC.
- The ignition is turned to OFF.
- All four sensors have been programmed.
- The TPM system has been in the program mode for longer than 2 minutes and no sensors
have been learned.
2. If the program mode is cancelled with less than four codes stored, the receiver will only accept the codes programmed up to that point

I used the magnet from a 6 x 9 speaker I had laying around. It worked great.

Get a strong magnet and follow DeeGee's instructions. Should work just fine.

Do you have the correct sensors? They are different for different years.
I think 97-00 are the same and there is a different one for 01-04.

There's no way to tell which sensors you had installed from the info you provided. The new sensors must match the frequency your car uses AND must be learned in a specific order to be correct. You need to find out and provide more information to get proper help with this. Which year sensors did you get and what year is your car? Stating the year and body style of your car is generally a good idea with any question you ask in case there is a difference. I see in your profile that you have an 01, so you need the new style sensors and you need to use the procedure DeeGee provided above to program them to you car.

Thanks everyone.Sorry about the delayed response but I have already responded before and did not not hit the "POST QUICK REPLY"duh.Anyway I have a base 2001 convertible and I purchased new monitors specifically for this model. The vette was not at the tire shop.I had the tires mounted and took them home to change them.I will have the tire shop deal with this as I have to go there to have a new wheel mounted on the right front as to avoid being hit a couple weeks ago I managed to wipe out that wheel, but I managed to saved the left side of the vette.BTW you are absolutely correct when saying to give the proper information if you want a question answered. Thanks alot everyone
