Baseline: 2001 Z06, 95k miles. LS7 Clutch with 13k miles. I've had the car 3 weeks now with NO issues mechanically. While driving this evening I noticed noise when going into 2,3,4... Like the TOB wasn't engaging/disengaging. But only on upshift. The noise was coming from directly below the shifter. Then all of a sudden the **** is loose! WTF?! I felt down the stick some and the **** is still tight on the handle, but it's loose from the handle base. It's an MGW shifter with a C6Z ****. Any ideas from what I've given y'all? I'm new to the scene so I have a lot to learn...
Yeah, I've run MGW in my past Cobras. It just shocked me that it came loose with no warning. Guess I'm pulling the console tomorrow. Yay... My main concern is the noise/vibration from that area. :-/
I started stripping it today before work. Looks like the locknut backed off. No biggie. Just got to figure out what's causing the noise now.
Did you replace your shifter box when you installed the MGW? I replaced mine (2003 Z06) when I got the MGW and the OEM one was definitely on its way out.
I have an aftermarket shifter, a B&M and after a while it started vibrating due to wear I'm sure. I have heard others say this about other brands too. I'm guessing you may have that kind of issue. Probably isn't the tranny.
