Hey guys! I have a c4 and I'm look at a c5 later this week beside the normal thing u should look for when buying a car, what are some key thing I need to look for with these cars?
It's a 99 coupe 6sd, with 66,000
1 owner from west Virginia.
Take it to a shop and put it on a hoist. Look for leaks (tranny and differential). Are there any engine mods? Find out who did them and what was done. Find out if it has had a column lock by pass installed.
Keep in mind that should your EBCM fail, you are essentially out of luck unless you have an 01-04 C5. Their body/brake control module is repairable and replaceable. Those in earler models are not.
Keep looking for a 2001 and up model. Parts are more available. It should be easy enough. Its been voiced enough on this forum the difficulties people have had with 97-2000 model Corvettes such as parts availabilty, difficulty in installing certain aftermarket parts, etc. Keep Looking!!

Here is a checklist I made for looking at Corvettes and is heavily geared towards the C5 model. If you would like other files about the C5, PM me your e-mail address and I'll send them to you.
