not sure, sal. the official description of the z06 is frc, for fixed roof coupe. it was needed for stability reasons. there are aftermarket vendors that will modify a z06 into convertible, though
The Z06 has to be FRC becasue it has so much torque that if it did have a removable roof panel and you stomped on it, then you would twist the top and it would not seal right again.

RIDICULOUS STATEMENT!!!
The C5 coupe and vert. chassis is stiffer than most closed cars! The first bending mode frequency is 23 Hz. GM committed to the FRC design and decided to make it the platform for the ultimate performance Corvette. The FRC design does improve chassis stiffness by 2 Hz over the already very stiff coupe/vert. structure, which helps, but doesn't make that much difference. There are a few Z06s that have been converted to convertibles. I know one owner who has done this and he reports no perceptable difference in ride, handling, or perceived rigidity.

Don't think this is true.
It was mainly done to reduce the overall weight of the car.
I am just going on what a salesman at the dealer said when I asked that question about "Could you get it in a targa top or convertible" that is the reason he gave. He also mentioned that they did indeed do it for weight purposes aswell. So I applogize if I offended anybody.
No problem. This is what makes the forum so great. A group of people getting together to learn the facts about the greatest American car around. Have a good and safe weekend. :seeya

A dealer salesman is the LAST GUY IN THE WORLD you want to believe when it comes to the engineering features of a car or just about anything else for that matter. If you haven't previously learned this, I hope you know now.

LMFAO. Now I know why all those heads and cam guys are so "twisted"

Lesson number 1 ... never listen to the sales rep! I really wish these GM sales reps would get a clue!!! :mad
No kidding. My sales rep was a little more knowledgable. She explained the real reason: The shorter fixed roof design makes for a more balanced transient layer for the warp field intake into the nacelle scoops that are located just forward of the rear wheels. She went on to explain that it really isn't much of an issue an impulse speeds. :conehead
