2004 Z06
I just got this code today when I was at the dealership adding RPO codes. I wanted to add the twilight and TPMS (Twilight sensor installed, TPMS sensors NOT installed "yet"). Well, when he was going through the menu he added the RPO code for F45 (selective ride) and then saved it. Well, right away mutiple errors, believe something with the shocks, the ride control, and the maximum speed warning. Well right away corrected him on that "ooops" and redid the BCM with the F45 NOT "checked". Still the "maximum speed 80MPH" stays. Tried it a couple times, even left once to get gas, still no luck. The car is 100% stock with only 20k miles. I know trying to turn the RPO codes on is what caused this message, but what/how??? Could it possibly be because I do NOT have the TPMS installed yet? or is it because he added the F45? Please help.

Ty for your helpful responce! But to entertain your question... To monitor my tire pressure, I drive my car daily and on a couple different times I found out by having sloppy steering that I got a nail and my pressure was below 20..... So why would I not want to add a simple sensor that can tell me when it starts to go low is the real question.
That is strange, probably a safe bet that adding selective ride started this mess. You may want to consult with local tuner to take a look. Have you tried clearing it and or disconnecting the negative post on your battery?
That's my guess also. The mech did remove the rpo a couple times, I didn't try the battery, but I guess it wouldn't hurt.... I'm going to call some local corvette guys today.... I was just hoping someone heard of this before
I've seen a bunch of threads like that, all wanting to remove/bypass the F45 problem is, I've never had that..... I just need factory back.... I think the "install"" of the F45 over wrote something I'm supposed to have (what ever they call my suspension... ) so I need that installed
Yes the C5Zs never had it..I thought the interesting tidbit was with regard to the scan tool used to add/remove the RPO for selective ride. Non-GM ScanTools cannot get into the protected area of the BCM. I am guessing the mechanic was probably using a GM ScanTool though since he was able to add/delete the F45 RPO.
I did the same two mods you are attempting to complete and have no issues to report. I too daily drive my Vette and two weeks ago the tpms saved me from being stranded.
I would double check to make sure the tech didn't activate the TPMS in the computer and not do the install routine on the sensors. If it is looking for the sensors and isn't reading them, it may have something to do with it.
Also double check the tech has the FE4 suspension RPO selected.

Once the TPMS feature is activated in the computer, the system needs to be "trained". The car doesn't know that sensors are installed and where they are.
There is a "learn" mode that gets activated and then you go to each tire sensor with a strong magnet. I believe it starts at the left front, right front, right rear, and finally left rear. Each time the sensor is recognized, the horn beeps. I had a local mechanic do the computer work and the Discount Tire did the training for me. My friend drove the car from one location to the next so I don't know if the 80 MPH error showed. I'll ask her and get back with you.
As a side note, the local Chevy dealers (2 of them) told me you couldn't add TPMS and twilight to a Z06 and acted like I was a total idiot. I had to show them the procedure I found on this forum before they would believe me. They didn't get my business because of the attitude the way they treated me.
I did a quick search and failure to read the suspension system will limit speeds to 80 MPH but they said the message included suspension fault. Your tech messed with the suspension setting by changing it to F45. The Z06 has the FE4 system.
TY All for your input and advise, next week I am going to take it to a local corvette tuner (corvette center) and cross my fingers he can unscrew up the dealership's mistake.....
I had to take my car back to the dearlership so they can fix the 2004 famous fuel leak, so while they have been waiting on parts the last 2 days, they have been trying to fix this issue with NO LUCK! WTH!!! I guess it has went up a couple levels and no one can figure it out........ I sure hope they get it.
Just a side observation here. Not all dealerships are equal in skill level in dealing with Corvettes. The Chevy dealership in my town, Rockwall, Texas, will not even work on Vettes. They'll freely admit that they don't have enough experience. I can appreciate that.
We have a couple of dealerships that have a good focus on Vettes. Others will pretend they know. Ran by one dealership to get them to read the key code to help me duplicate a key. Their service writers insisted that it couldn't be done. One of their head mechanics came out and said they couldn't do it. BS. Ran by a knowledgeable dealership and a simple parts guy did the read, gave me the results, and said no charge.
Not all dealerships are created equal in working on Vettes. Just a heads up.
Very true, seen that myself..... well, the engineer's finally just had them ground out the computers, and re-upload....... all is good now..... hahahahahah. That's what I said to do...... just format and re-install, lol
Hey guys can you point me to a reference to the F55? I have a 2004 and I'm told I cant use the resistors. replaced the shocks with OEM which were supposedly compatible but I have the MAX SPEED 80MPH now.
I would check to see if everything is connected on the shocks and computer in the back hatch. There are different part numbers for the front and rear shocks, make sure they were installed correctly.
