Default Rear Quarter Panels..

So I am trying to figure out the cost of this project...and where is the best place to actually get these. I did a search and found different manufactors but I want to know what the community is going with mostly. Also what was the cost for everything to be installed and painted for your project?

Are you talking about fender flares??? If so your choices are L5's, TPE, qwik z06 (forum member and vendor) and I believe ACP makes a flare as well.

Each of these flares will most likely require some prep work, and if your going to do most of the work yourself you will save a lot. I'll give a simple break down in price that will vary:

L5 flares $899 - $999
TEP $899 - $999
Qwik z06 $450 - $550 (Sorry Pete can't remember exactly, lol)
Qwik z06 $600 - $750 (Carbon Fiber)

Splash guards will vary. You can pay from $120 a set to $300. I went with c6 z06 OEM. Keep in mind to fit the OEM will need to be modified but fairly simple to do.

Paint will also vary. I paid $410 for prep and paint only (color: torch red) I did the install. Depending on your color, and who does the paint the price will vary. $400 - $800 depending on prep work and paint.

I can give you a sample of my total cost, but keep in mind I did all the test fitting, and my body shop did the prep work.

Flares
$300 (it was this price since they were the prototypes, and extra prep work was anticipated)
$410 Prep and paint (installation and test fitting not included as I did my own)
$90 OEM c6 z06 splash guards new from a forum member (tasteetwirl) thanks

Total = $800

I did not include shipping as it will also vary. Realistically, most will pay anywhere from $1500 to $2000 when all said and done.

See links below for additional info:

Somethnig else to consider are your wheel/tire setup. If you are not changing this you will need to run adapters in the rear. Motorsport-Tech can help you there, you'll spend about $130. Otherwise you would be looking at new/used wheels and tires. That price can be $3000 to $10,000 for the combination, dependent on what you want.

YES, forgot to mention this! I went the cheap route (for now) and paid $100 for a wheel adapter. I will upgrade later, and the setup I'm looking at will probably cost around $2500 to $2800 for wheels and rims. You can always make it cheaper by going with reproductions wheels with front offset for a c5 and rear for a c6 z06. You will still need to run a spacer but it bring cost down by approx $500 to $700.

I'm pricing it out now too. The issue I'm having is that I'm getting very close to being able to buy a C6 Z06, and I'm wondering if it's worth it to delay that purchase to beef up my current ride.

If you're buying fenders, you're probably going to want new wheels that are about 12" wide. If you do that, the safe money is to set aside about $5,000. That will cover paint, fitting (if the fenders have any fitment issues), splash guards, a set of $1,600ish wheels and $2,000 tires.

Are you going to attempt to do some of the work yourself?

I will probably end up getting a spacer cause I still have the gunmetal rims on the car. I think I do have a cost of what everything costs just I am worried if I do it myself I don't have the knowledge enough to fix some issues that you came across.

Just buy the C6Z06 you will be glad you did

the costs are quite a bit more then just the parts and paint.

i did it or had it done but would not do it again on a C5. A C6 yes as you can get pre painted Wide GS or Z06 body parts very easily

I was going to say like everyone else and wait to get the z06, but don't know what you have done to your current ride, or your financial situation. I opted out of getting a newer c6 and instead to modify my current ride, but at some point I will be going newer.

The issues you encounter will depend on the quality of the fender. Mine needed sanding to line up some of the seems, and putty for pin holes. Most can be filled with "high build primer" but you really, really have to be careful with hidden air pockets that sometimes get trapped in between the gel coat. I had a few that my painter discovered and required extra prep work.

I cant imagine why you would keep modifying the car while saving up and planning to buy a different car.

Sorry should have made it more clear. I'm not really saving up for another car, and when I say planning to buy a different car I'm talking in possibly 2 to 3 years, and maybe longer. Other then upgrading the wheels and tires at some point I don't plan on going any further in terms of mods. To be honest for what I paid for the car, and what I have into it, and what I can sell it for in my area, I won't be losing much when it comes time to sell.

I would say this depends on whether his car is paid for or not and whether he can do some of the work. Moving into a c6 with WB or a C6Z is not that cheap.

002 Z06 Corvette - Mcloed RXT Clutch, Level 5 RPM transmission, Pfadt Coilovers, Pfadt Rear Sway Bar, Pfadt Polyurethane Bushings, Headers, CAI, Tune, MGW shifter 386RWHP

Here is my list of mods and as you can see some money has been dropped into the car. The car is paid off pretty much but I don't want a car note and a c6z is still pretty high in price.

Keep in mind if you are planning to sell it in the near future it will be harder to sell it with the fender flares. I would not do it if you plan to sell in the next couple of years.

I hear ya, but putting the car back to stock is just a matter of a few bolts and voila!

No it is not. and C6s do have computer challenges that can not be programed out.

But still just doing fender flairs is not always the best way

Good custom wheels with 315 rear tires is quite a bit of traction.

They do look cool
