I finally got to drive my work in progress last night.
So... I had my Tire Pressure Sensors removed and sent them out for rebuilding with a forum member. I had regular valve cores installed since I will be mounting new wheels and tires and planned to install the rebuilt sensors then. After a few weeks I have been informed that 2 of the sensors won't rebuild for some reason and I need to spend another 50 bucks for core charge. But that's another story.
Anyway, I put about 10 miles on the car and had it up to 55 mph several times. It's not inspected yet so I didn't venture far. I have read here and been told by a friend that I would get a constant error message about the TPMS. I have nothing! No messages at all....just Corvette by Chevrolet and the mileage. I've started the car several times and still nothing. So regaurdless of the outcome on the other deal, I won't be installing any sensors.
I don't want to start a debate about wether or not I need the system. I have a whole fleet including 2 classic Brit cars so I'm used to checking tires. Just wanted to pass this along in case someone else wants to eliminate them. Hope this helps.
So anyone know when this will happen and what causes the message to appear? Does it take so many cycles of the ingnition or what? I had assumed it would show up as soon as I drove the car and the puter didn't get a signal. But so far nothing. Electronics are both great and a PITA.
I run winter tires/wheels without the sensors during the cold months in my 2000 and rarely get the error. It shows just blank (no XXX’s) were the pressure would normally show up. I have seen the error maybe five times in six or seven winters. There a few pre 2001’s out there that just don’t get all worked up about the missing sensors.

Interesting Sam. Evidently I got one that isn't easily excited. That may be a good thing.
Well it looks like I gave some bad information here. I got the car legal and have been driving it. I had an issue with the connector to the pass door that I rectified with help from here. BUT...at about the same time the Service Tire Pressure Montitor System message appeared. It now shows every time I start the car. Seemed to be right about the 100 mile mark of driving it after a long sleep.
Not sure if it had anything to do with the connector issue or just needed that many miles driven. In any case, the SOB waited until I had all the new wheels & tires mounted without sensors. I'm begining to think this thing is possesed. My girl friend says I named it right when I call it Darth Vader.
