Default Got DIC Code P1416

Need some advice before I start looking deeper into this DIC code. The other day I got a check engine light and after looking through the DIC codes I came up with P1416 as being a current code. I do have the three large service manuals and after looking though them I see that code P1416 is a system bank 2 error. Some of the possible culprits indicate that it could be one of the air check valves coming off the header manifold. Again I am just trying to get a possible path to start from.

Some background on the car. It is a 1999, the car has dynatech longtube headers, which has all the emissions connections still attached and cats with all four O2 sensors. The headers have been on the car for many years now with no problems. There is a custom tune on the car as it also has a cam, which also has been in the car for many years.

My first question is which side, passenger or drivers side check valve is this code for. Is there any other places I should look first for a code like this. If the check valve is the culprit do I need to replace or just clean it. Is the car still driveable. To me it sounds like it is strictly an emissions related problem and not a critcal engine damaging problem. I cleared the codes and haven't driven the car since it occured to see if it comes back yet. Any advice from the pros here who have had this code pop up and resolved would be great. I'm not a novice to these types of problems and will try to fix it myself first before turning it over to my local tuner shop for help. I do not have a scan tool.

Also note the air pump on the car is still operational as is all of the emission related equipment. Thanks for your help.

I just had the same code and had both emission check valves replaced. The passenger side check valve is hard to get to, it is behind one of the cylinder heads against the firewall. As stated, there are lots of posts on this problem, the intake manifold has to be removed and that brings the labor cost up, the two check valves themselves are not that expensive. Search the forum, good luck to you....

Thanks everybody. Did some searches and know what I'm up against. Will try the cleaning method and see if that has any effect, but will replace the checks if no luck.

Thanks again forum.
