I'd be interested to know if the car was stock or SC'd. It takes a lot of HP to cause this damage.

Yeah me too. It would be hard to believe that sort of catastropic damage would be caused by a senior in a BONE STOCK car. Never seen anything like that.

This thread turned into a "how seniors drive" thread as opposed to the issue that all of us may face.

If the shaft snaps, youre gonna lose the trans case tailpiece and rear end case with it.

All i know was that the owner told us that he was just leaving the gas station sidways making sure the front or chest of the vette doesn't hit the ground and BAM all hell broke loose. I personally don't believe that, but hey just a thread for you c5 owners out there to be aware just incase anything similar can happen to your vette. So make sure you guys keep up the maintenance and avoid headaches and expensive repairs.

I was gently pulling away from a red light while turning left when I felt a bump and thought the lady behind me had hit me. Looked in rearview and she wasnt near me.

Messed with shifter and nothing. There was no more noises after the initial jolt.

What the owner said he was doing is most likely the truth.
