Thinking about getting a nose bra for my corvette. I am planning to only put it on when on the interstate's. Does anyone have any suggestions on which one to get. I am a little timid, I am not sure if they will flap and damage the nose at speed?
The factory GM bra fits like a glove as you can see below. It does not, and will not, flap at speed. I opted to leave the hood section off because I think it looks better, but that part does come with the bra.
I never had one for any of the Corvettes I've owned but I have used them on daily drivers and would not recommend them. No matter how careful you are you always seem to wind up with scratches and trapped dirt behind the bra. I guess it would be alright if you only used them on trips and took them off and cleaned underneath immediately after arriving at your destination. I know stone chips and bugs are unavoidable but using a bra has it's own set of problems.

I have used a bra on every car I've owned for 3 decades and not one of them has ever developed scratches on the paint underneath. As long as you clean it regularly and keep a good coat of wax on the nose the paint will be just fine. The most recent before my Vette was a 2003 Monte Carlo that I purchased in 2002; the bra was put on the first day before I drove it home, and still is on that car, and there isn't a single scratch in the paint under it.
i would personally get a clear protective bra if your worried about it. I've always perceived the leather bras as being stuck in the 80s personally so I dont much care for them.
I don't know if it's because I live in PA and you live in TX but in the winter months you can get grit and dirt behind the mask that can cause scratching. I personally don't care for them but to each his own.
GM bra...best fit for the money...throw it in the washing machine, air dry and good to go...have owned 3....they all fit great...no front end damage at all...they have certainly prevented quite a bit on road trips and during love bug season here in Florida...
when we travel we take it off at our destination and wash it before the return trip if at all possible...which is 99% of the time.
we are looking at buying another we are down to one....
GM unit based on your usage and cost, though I dropped for the SpeedLingerie as I leave mine on for longer durations and wanted something other than black on the nose of my AE

I found two at a Chevy dealer in Oregon and bought both. Had them shipped to me before I went to pick my Vette up from the dealer I purchsed it from so I could have one on right away. The GM bra on my Monte lasted about 9 years before it started cracking so I figure I've got at least 18 years worth of wear and tear on bras before I have to worry about finding a replacement.
We have the love bugs here in Texas too. Anyone who has seen the damage they can cause to a poly or fiberglass front-end would have a bra on quick.

I have run the GM bra on all three of the C5s I have owned. Excellent product, does not flap at speed, and really protects the front end. Easy on/off once you get it to conform to the car (takes a few times putting it on/off to stretch the vinyl material to where it is easy to install). Best of all you can get one for about $80 or so. I would highly recommend the GM item and I run it all the time, not just on the highway. Only time I don't have it on the car is if I get caught in a rainstorm - then I do take it off.
I got one of those satin stretch front end covers. You simply install 3 snaps in each wheel well (using existing screw holes), and when you want to put on the cover for a cruise, just stretch it out and snap it in. Takes 10 seconds. Air still travels through it, but it never flaps or comes loose. I had it on for our round trip from Green Bay, WI to Bowling Green and it worked great. No dirt gets behind it either, mostly because air can go through it and keep the dirt and dust moving past it. I never liked the bigger, heavier ones for some reason...
I only use the cover for long drives though... I think it's overkill for every day use. Really takes away from the sexy front ends of our cars IMHO!

All good advise just like they say keep it clean, very important. Here is a hood protection bra i made bc i was getting rock chips on the hood and windsheild. Very proud of it. I have tested it on a 4k trip and it does not move, or at least it didnt up to 120mph lol I have sold a few and if you are interested pm me. My hood and nose have no rock chips!
I have the GM bra also.....never a problem with scratches, etc. Put a good coat of wax on before & after I use it. Only use it on long trips or the interstate, not local.

This is what I use, but it's on every day I drive it in the summer.
I also recommend the GM Bra. The fit is perfect, nice and snug so it does not flap at speed and you can't beat the price.
Do a search and you will find countless positive threads about the GM bra. With any bra, remove it frequently to clean and wax the paint and the underside of the bra and never use it in the rain. My car is black and shows no signs of abrasion or fading.
I used screw in marine snaps in the front wheel wells in place of the snaps that GM provided. The marine snaps are easier to install since they screw right in.
