One other thing I was thinking was the sway bar end links. I know mine are the original plastic ones and the rubber boots are completely gone. Definitely putting on the metal replacements soon.
If you are going that route, and to the OP as well, do yourself a favor and give Patrick or the crew at gmpartshouse and upgrade to the c6z51 sway bars and links, and if you are contemplating new shocks, go with the c6z06 shocks. I just did this on my 2000 couple of weeks back, and I am glad that i did.

mine is 2001 automatic with just over 50,000. I do annual oil/filter and have done the trans fluid & filter. WHen is good time for spark plugs & wires?

2001 manual. owned 1 year... 53k

new battery
trans gear oil
engine oil filter
serpentine belts
battery

next is coolant flush...
