Great day today. I removed the BSMs from my C5. It went quite well with the help I had from a friend (another forum member). I've got some pretty nasty blisters on my thumbs and one of my fingers, but all in all it was definitely worth it. The car looks so very much better without them.

Even more beautiful than before:
And the crispy critter I found, cooked on the radiator.
You got the frog leg bonus! Haha.. Congrats man she looks so sleek without! Did you use Goof Off to rub the stick tape off after you fished the bsm's off? Really looks gorgeous

Nice job! However I am also interested to know how you get the remaining residue off without scratching the paint, etc. Looks like a lot of left over adhesive, etc.
A heat gun and my thumbs. That's how I earned the blisters. Worked really well. Then the rest came off with some clay bar, cleansing wax, and rubbing alcohol. Then I waxed the affected areas.
Holy WOW You used a heat gun! You're too kewl for skewl then.. I couldn't bring myself to do that.. lol.... I did use the goof off in a spray can when I did mine. I sprayed all along the bsm's top side real good to saturate the stick tape behind then took the fishing line and got my saw on while wearing mechanic gloves... when I got to the point where they were removed and had stick tape still stuck on the side of the car I just sprayed the goof off directly on and rubbed with gloved hands till I gathered little ***** of gunk and before you know it wallah.. A good wash and she looked great. Seems your method worked perfect too as your paint looks fantastic!
Excellent! Is there any discoloration between the paint behind the BSM and the rest of the body from sun, weather elements, etc?
No discoloration, 99.8% of people would never be able to tell that the BSMs were ever there. There is a tiny barely noticeable mark along where the top of the moldings were. I know it's there and even when I'm looking for it I usually can't see it. It's nearly impossible to spot.
