I sold a mint 03 blk/blk 27K miles ZO6 about 2 years ago and have missed her since. I found a torch red/ blk 03 garage queen with 12,600 miles and pretty much pristine except for some minor curb rash and the frame rails scratched a little. I had to have it! So I'll pick it up tuesday. This car has hardly been driven since 04 when the second owner purchased it. My question is what do you guy's think I should be wary of other than the obvious fluid changes. the tires are original and still have about 40% tread left. What else should I be checking?
I would check any trouble codes, leaking rear dif, CLB, and clutch fluid, see if it's black....
I would also check to see if the EBCM has been replaced or fixed by chance.
I checked the clutch fluid on the pre buy insp...it was nasty. I'll swap it via the ranger method as soon as I get it home. I crawled under and didn't see any leaks of any kind. The car pulled hard and no sticking of the clutch pedal on the test drive. Car fax was clean and matched what the seller told me of the history of the car. It hasn't had the column lock recall done. I plan on installing a clb anyway.
You can call your local Chevy dealer, and give them the VIN. They will tell you any claims that may have already been addressed. My 03 had the EBCM replaced at the dealer prior to my ownership. They charged over 2k dollars!!!
Enjoy that car and hang on to it. When I bought mine in Oct, it had 22K on the clock. the car had been obsessively maintained. I still flushed the coolant, changed the oil, flushed the clutch and installed a new battery for good measure. The LH differential seal had been replaced under warranty at 15K so I didn't change the fluid.
